interesting note, just watch BBC America TopGear, they had a segment on the Lotus79 that ran in 1978. The car was 2 seconds faster than the rest of field when it was introduced. They went on to dominate.
So for as much as we would like to see more action, teams/drivers do dominate. There are other examples. so nothing really has changed. The interesting item was they showed the 78 rule book vs 2019 rule book and I swear the 78 rule book was 10% of the current rule book. Cheers

Current Mercedes Team descendant of Tyrrell
I was watching a youtube about the Tyrrell P34 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adsyJLzGIpA At the end, they were talking about what happen to Tyrrell from the Tyrrell Racing wiki The double championship-winning Brawn GP team of 2009 and the present Mercedes team can loosely be said to be descendants of Tyrrell, through its predecessors, Honda Racing F1 and BAR. While BAR bought the Tyrrell F1 team and entry, they used a different factory, chassis builder and engine – most of the former Tyrrell cars and equipment were sold to Paul Stoddart, later owner of the Minardi F1 team. When team boss Ross Brawn led a management buyout of the Honda F1 team to compete in the 2009 season, a revival of the Tyrrell name was briefly considered when deciding what to call the new team.[7] Just found it interesting As of the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix, the teams which descended from Tyrrell have won 97 Grands Prix, 6 Drivers' and 6 Constructors' championships. The Minardi 2-seater F1 cars are modifications of the 1998 Tyrrell 026 design, most noticeable in the distinctive shape of the nose of the car. These cars still run in demos today, most recently as demo cars during the launch of the Yas Marina F1 track.

Hope you guys enjoyed the US Grand Prix yesterday. I thought it was a good race. I found it interesting how much the drivers complained about how bumpy the track was. This is old news. The IMSA guys talked about this and they have not been at COTA in two year. This was also a big complaint from the MOTO GP riders as well. The Track is set to be closed over the winter for major improvements. Hopefully that means resurfacing the whole track not just parts of it. Any way just two race to go for the 2019 season.
