His family were far from wealthy, but his dad was devoted to helping him succeed. He was just lucky to be spotted by Ron Dennis at a very young age.

His obsession with winning is a double-edged sword. It makes him the champion he is and it also makes him the less pleasant character he is when he fails to win.

On balance I really admire him - a self-made champion who didn't have a rich daddy. I'd love him to win a 3rd championship because I love the way he drives.

Saw him at Silverstone the day Pirelli gave him that almighty blowout a few years ago. Man did he show some talent & balls to drive though the pack and end up 4th, in a race he would have won, but for the dodgy tyres. His genius is undeniable.


Edit - and Rosberg only won last year because Lewis had more technical problems. On a level playing field, Lewis wins every time. I think most of us would have tantrums if our car kept breaking down.
