They are dropping like flies and the lights haven't even gone out. :icon17:

Wow, seriously Lotus? :shakes head:

It's a shame we've only got 13 cars running!

So did Manor only show up to claim last year's prize money?

Pretty boring. This is the first year since the early '90s that I will miss the Canadian GP. This new generation of cars leave cold. No noise. When I think back to just a few years ago they were turning near 20K RPM and just wailed, it makes me sad. For the first time, I sat in the stands last year with no earplugs. Oh to go back to the glorious sound of those Ferrari V-12s of the late '80s and early '90s.

Nice analysis of this not so great race here from the BBC F1 site - BBC Sport - Australian GP: Lewis Hamilton's natural ability hides F1 cracks

it is somewhat a disappointed race, never seen an opening race with such low numbers of starters.
the highlight is McLaren was able to finish the whole race, regardless what power were they running at, to able to finish 58 laps is quite something for its honda unit... and  to Button for putting some exciting fights against Perez... lol the race wasn't that bad though, especially seeing Raikkonen coming back from 8-9(?) to 5th... only at the end his race was ruined by a faulty rear-wheel (or wheel gun, or wheel nut what so ever...) but glad to see a non-mercedes powered on the podium. Interestingly, many cars suffered mechanical failure, except for honda, this is the 2nd season they are using the V6 unit, shouldn't they be more well prepared? And such BS comments from that red-bull guy, marko(?), threaten to quit F1. :shakes head: what the hell wrong with him? threaten to quit because his team is no longer running on top? does he remember his team actually was doing the same thing couple years ago covering 1-2 almost every race finishing 30s ahead of the 3rd place. I am wondering, with all these regulations changes and technical changes... is it really helping F1 on cutting costs or the other way around..?? now the engine is more complicated, races is less exciting, but the small teams are still suffering from lacking funds. |
I thought Max Verstappen had a very impressive debut weekend. Sorry to see he was not able to finish and get some points on his debut.

I was there with our car club .. we had a display in the parkland around the back of the circuit and a seat in grandstand opposite the Rowing Club.
It has to be one of the more boring F1 races I have been to, the engines "drone" rather than the old V10 and V8 scream, and it was processional with too few runners at the end to maintain any sort of interest. There is no doubt that Renault have dropped the ball badly and whilst Ferrari have closed the gap, they still have a long way to go. Honda are not in a good place, their engine is way under-developed and the way the engine rules are written, they may struggle to catch up. |
My very low expectations of the race were met, so I guess I wasn't disappointed...just sad.
I was happy to see Scuderia and Sauber showing some life, so that is promising. |
relive all the excitement!
