That's an insane price... if you only want one color, try Vivid Ink too. They mostly do commercial stuff but we use them for our work vehicles a lot. They have the best prices in BR. They have a NO location in Harahan too.

Yeah just one solid color, i just want something sleek. I still don't know if i should just wait till a new-ish bodkit comes out. The one i've been waiting for, hopefully before the end of the year.

What color if your Z now? Just realized I've never seen it.

KaienZ34 07-23-2012 09:00 PM

Pearl white, i used to have a bunch of pics before the part out. I don't think i'll be putting any back up.

w0rM 07-23-2012 09:05 PM

I understand

Well, if you're likely to do a body kit again, you might as well wait.

KaienZ34 07-23-2012 09:06 PM

Yeah probably the smart thing to do.

w0rM 07-23-2012 09:10 PM

Yeah, then you don't have to worry about matching colors. Wraps fade pretty fast. Much faster than paint.

Fading depends on the type of material that you are using. I'm going to wrap my Z with Oracal 970RA. It's a 4mil material and lasts up to 5 years. Since this vinyl isn't printed the chances of it fading are far less probable.

Not to mention, it's an automotive specific vinyl, made to withstand the most extreme UV rays.

Kaien, what color are you looking for? My buddy and I are going to wrap my Z, as well as Punk86's. If you want in, just buy the roll of material and give us some cash and we could probably do yours too. My buddy worked at a sign shop for like 5 years installing wraps and stuff on trucks and cars, he knows whats up.

We are looking at a price around $1500-1800 for a solid color with material and labor.

I was thinking satin black.

Good to know. I'm not familiar with the various brands and such.

I do know that even a crappy paint job is going to last 10 years longer than any vinyl ever could... as long as you take care of it, of course.

KaienZ34 07-24-2012 09:30 AM

Yeah Oracal and 3M 1080 are both very good products.

Define a crappy paint job..?

I've seen some pretty poorly painted cars only last a few months before the clear starts to fade and peel. It's also relative to the UV exposure... if your car sits outside ALL day EVERY day, I don't' care how good the paint is, the clear is going to dry out. Especially our thin *** Nissan paint.

Then again, vinyl wrap is a third of the cost of a new paint job, and if you want to change colors, pull it off and change it. :icon17:

Yep, very good points.

I'm not knocking vinyl. Like I said, we wrap all our company vehicles and have been for 15 years. It's inexpensive and like you said, super easy to swap out when you're ready. We've had some vehicles that have been wrapped 10+ times.

KaienZ34 07-24-2012 09:37 AM

I think i have an email somewhere from the guy that sold the wrap to doc (Docaam) for just the warp it was like 600 or 800. I'd have to look for it, that was right before doc had his car wrapped that frozen grey or whatever it was called.

KaienZ34 07-24-2012 09:38 AM

The new-ish brushed colors from 3M look pretty badass also. What color(s) were y'all looking at?
