September 17th Cruise ! UPDATE #3
 

Alright All,

Time to nail this Cruise down for Dates/Times/Itinerary. Here is the plan as I concocted it. Much different from "The Gator" run, this is all on well paved easy winding countryside highways and interstates. The Houma/Lafayette run is on low trafficked highway (Interstate quality), so we should be able to have some good fun safely and with no damage to anyone's ride hopefully. That being said, we will need the eyes and ears of those with Radar Detectors throughout the trip...I'll charge up my walkie's and distribute strategically among the field for better communications. If you have a set of walkies, bring them...

I'd say the timing from The Gator worked pretty well, so we'll (almost) keep the same schedule. This time however, the BR crowd will be traveling to meet with us in Covington for 9am, giving them a start time of 8am (I can just hear the screams of agony already...:icon18: There is a method to my madness guys.. let me explain further...). From Covington, we'll pick up the N.O. Z's and then on Hwy 90 to pick up the Houma Z's, and on to New Iberia / Avery Island for a visit /Photo Op there and meet up with the Lafayette Z's:

There is a 50 Cent toll to enter the island (unless with inflation, they up'd it...). The entryway is a narrow bridge I believe - So David and all other lowered suspensions, beware! :eek:

From Avery Island, we'll head towards Lafayette for some scrumptious eats at Landry's Seafood Buffet ( they do have other stuff if you are not a Seafood person): :stirthepot:
Landry's - New Iberia, LA

(NOTE:This is a Local Restaurant, and apparently, they are being confused with a national chain - the website link on that page takes you to the WRONG Landry's! Anyhow...)

From there, we'll continue on Hwy 90 to Opelousas, then turn on Hwy 190 eastbound to Baton Rouge where we'll split off individually to close off the Cruise. :tup:

Meeting Places/Launch Times:
Baton Rouge: Harold and David both live off of I-10. So the BR meet spot shall be changed to the prairieville exit on I-10 at 8:15

Covington: Northpark Strip Shopping Center across from the Walmart on 190 - Specifically, the Starbucks there (I NEED COFFEEEEEE!). Launch time around 9am after we meet up with the Baton Rouge Z's :icon14:

New Orleans: hmmm... I would suggest Lakeside Shopping Mall Clearview Mall by TARGET so we can proceed easily on to I-10 Westbound and pick up I-310 to Boutte. Launch time from Lakeside to be around 9:30am :icon17:

Houma: I'd say about 10:30am... please advise on a meeting place close to Hwy 90 - :confused:

Lafayette: The best place to meet would be at Avery Island I believe... we'll be there close to noon. :hello:

The trip to Avery Island is about a couple of hours, so we should be there around noon. An hour layover at Avery Island for the Photo Op and rest/exploration of the TABASCO plant & Store, then on to Landry's for about 1:00pm. This is crucial as the Buffet Bar is taken down at 2pm, so we have to make sure we get there in time.:happydance:
Then Opelousas, then BR...

From that point on, it's a play it by ear kinda thing and start dispersing again to go home. :tup:

Additional Notes: Seems we'll have a few 350's tagging along. So, spread the word to those with 350's if they'd like to cruise with us.

I don't think LSU has a home game on either of those dates, so I am good. For future reference LSU home games come first, even if half the team is in jail!

Sounds like you bleed Purple and Gold! Not a problem here with that at all -

We'll have to keep an eye on LSU's schedule and work around it!

I'd be more worried about missing a Saints game...

But I'm down for whatever.

I see you are in Bush, I am in Covington and Z IT Go is in Mandeville. We usually meet at the Starbucks on 190 opposite to the Walmart there (by ZIA's). RedmanNISMO hails all the way from Jackson. We have others in Houma and in the BR area as well.

Since you are driving a 350, I'm probably going to contact a couple more 350's see if they feel like joining up with us on the cruise - the more the merrier I say! I sent you a Private Message (PM) with my cell #. Let me know yours in a return PM so we can touch base at the alloted time. So far, it seems either date will work. Give it another week and then I'll put together a solid itinerary with times. I am thinking a stop at Avery Island in New Iberia (Home of the TABASCO plant, my favorite spice) would be a great Photo Op for us and something interesting to do on the way.:pics:

That does look like a good photo op location - maybe we can meet the Z's in Houma there...? Where is this exactly at?

It's a reception hall right off the interstate, i'll get the address/exit number and directions. Coming off the interstate even if you catch the lights, it's less than two mins off. I'll get my dad to bring my Z back home after some pics, then me and the wife could follow you guys in our G8-GT. If that's cool??

Very Cool - this cruise will have 370's and 350's, so we'll make some room for a G8-GT as well... As long as you and the missus are driving it! :tup:

I live in Metairie and you might want to re-think the meeting point in New Orleans. Yes Lakeside mall is close to the I-10, but they are doing heavy construction there. You might want to consider either Clearview mall or maybe even the lakefront in New Orleans.

Uhh, I just got off a conference call and found out I have to be in Boston the 16th and 17th for business. I am not happy as this cruise looked like a blast. RedmanNISMO will not be able to make it.

That just sucks RED....Well you gotta pay the bills.

Good Point... Clearview Mall is on the way out and just off the I-10, so Clearview Mall (by Target) it is - any objections from anyone?

Cool beans! I hope you guys get more people that will join! The meet happening this saturday will certainly have a ton of people you guys can talk to and tell about this cruise on sept 17th. For those of yall coming to the sept 10th meet c yall there!

BR: Y'all can meet at Target on Siegen (same place we met last time?) for a Launch at 8am to meet up with us in Covington (I know, too early and all that!:icon14:)

In Covington: the meeting place is off of 190 by Northpark Nissan/Opposite to Walmart. There is a small strip mall there with a Starbucks/McAllisters/Zia's Restaurant/Lee's Burgers... (Look for the ponds with the water fountains). If y'all from BR can meet us there for 9am then we can launch from there to pick up the New Orleans Z's from Clearview Mall and so on...
