Proposed Route for Trip - UPDATE
Alright guys - I have what appears to be an awesome road to navigate in the area of St. Francisville courtesy of Mike Fontenot (Z IT GO) and a benefactor driver enthusiast from the Miata Car Club who was gracious enough to share the valuable cruise information from his Club's Manual.
The road is a twisty country road, 61 miles in length, with pre-determined stops, including a Restaurant (Que Pasa Grill & Cantina in St. Francisville [LINK: Que Pasa Grill and Cantina - About Us. I spent a few hours on my GPS trying to map this thing following the Miata Clubs directions. The route is a figure 8 if you will and my GPS was getting confued when planning the route, so I broke it up into two separate routes - that seemed to solve its headache! I did make a necessary change from the Miata itinerary - I added the bridge at New Roads at the beginning, then tagged the Miata Club route afterwards. TomTom shows the bridge as a "Ferry" by he way... Ok, here is the route as programmed into my TomTom starting from Port Allen (Hwy 1): 1. Port Allen to 190, turn left 2. 190 to Hwy 1, Turn Right 3. Hwy 1 to Hwy 416, Turn Left - 4. Follow False River Road to New Roads Street, Turn Left 5. New Roads turns into Hwy 10/Ferry Rd 6. Hwy10/Ferry Road, bear right on Morganza Hwy to Bridge (old Ferry ??) Stop for some pics... 7. Follow Hwy 10 to Hwy 61, Turn right on Hwy 61 to Que Pasa Grille and Cantina for Lunch 8. After Lunch, take a left on Hwy 61 Northbound to Hwy 66/Tunica Trace, take a left 9. Tunica Trace to Sligo Road, Take a right 10. Follow Sligo Road to Rosemound Loop South - that'll bring us back around to Hwy 61. Sligo is very twisty with lots of 90 bends, some described as "blind corners" - that should give us a taste of the Tail of the Dragon? Ok, maybe somewhat... Here is where I had to break this route into another route in my GPS... so, Route 2 - The Return! 1A. Follow Hwy 61 south to Baines Road, Take a left. This is another start of another twisty windy road with lots of curves... 2A. Baines Road to Sage Hill Road, take a left on Sage Rd 3A. Sage Rd to Jones Vaughn Creek Rd, take a right 4A. Follow Jones Vaughn Creek Rd to Hwy 10, Take a right 5A. Hwy 10 to Hwy 965, take a left for more twists and turns 6A. Hwy 965 back to Hwy 61, Take a right, and we should be about where the Que Pasa Cantina is... 7A. Stop and take a deep breath as we should be wore out for all of us that are 6MT's!!! 8A. Back track back home... |

Yepppp... sounds fun.
So is the meeting place still going to be @ the Belle Casino? Should we pick another place where the security isn't going to harass us? Brad mentioned he went up there with him and another car and the guard came and told them to leave. |

This looks like it is going to be a blast, I can't wait!! Fedex just delivered my start button from the R35. I hope to get it installed by then since I know it is going to give me at least a 15hp and should cause the Z to start a lot quicker...
Paul how many guys are meeting up in Covington with us?? I hope there is a Starbucks or something close lol.... I will need coffee after my early morning lol..

Meeting places in covington & br...!
Quote:
I think we have about 4 - 6 370's meeting up at this time: Myself, Z It GO, yourself, and two other possible 370's, if not three! There is a Starbucks where we are meeting in Covington. This would be NORTHPARK mall, right next to NORTHPARK NISSAN, and opposite to the WALMART in Covington on Hwy 190. I would suggest look up NORTHPARK NISSAN in Covington and head there, you'll see the mall next to it when you get there. Believe me, I'll be guzzling some coffee and a bagel myself before we hit the road! DAVID - We defintiely do not want to be harassed. We'll need somewhere to park for at least an hour to collect everybody. You had mentioned the Target Parking Lot off of I-12. I would be very agreeable to moving the meeting place there. Let us know what exit off of I-12 and let's move it there I say - anyone have any objections? |

Paul, can you shoot me your phone number through a pm? I will be staying in Hammond at my parents house friday night, so I can jump in the caravan as you pass me up.
