I'm down for a ride into the country and plantation area ect, it would be nice to get out of the city for a change. I can tell you that the river road near LSU is terrible and you might bend a rim driving on it. I went down it a week or so ago and it was almost unbearable.
I think a meeting place a little closer to the interstate might be better Paul, maybe something off I-10 for everyone to meet at is a good idea. Getting to the battleship isn't that simple if you aren't familiar with the area, not to mention there aren't many places to part. (unless it's on the street) |

Parking downtown by the USS Kidd as a group would be hard. There are some parking lots a couple of blocks to the north. Florida at River Road. Or we could all park on the top level of the Belle of Baton Rouge casino, most people don't park up top so we should be able to group up. We might be able to run down Nicholson and catch the river road futher south, not sure of the condition down that way(avoids the LSU area).Unfortunately crappy roads are sop in south LA. Maybe I'll make a run up to the Audubon Bridge this weekend to check it out, need to put some miles on the bike anyway.

That'll be great Harold... Hope you find a good stretch of highway. Sounds like a good idea about the top parking lot of the Belle too. Do you think we can incorporate River Road and a trip to St. Francisville somehow? or am I going the wrong direction here? Sounds like it would be... Another idea is to run down River road to a Plantation Home there, then on to Cabela's in the afternoon - There are a lot of places to eat down Gonzalez (Chili's for instance)...

I don't think river road and St. Francisville would work in the same day. River road back up to Gonzales would work. St. francisville over the river to New Roads and False river and back would be a separate trip by itself.

Well, what do y'all think? Which way shall we head? From Windex's post, and the consensus on staying out of the City, sounds like maybe we should seriously consider the St. Francesville trip - good road, it leads us out of the City, so no hang-ups in traffic and trying to find places to park - I think my vote at this time goes to the St. Francisville trip. We can stop at the Myrtles Plantation Home and take the tour of the "Haunted" house - it is very entertaining, not to mention a great background to take pics... drawback, not hardly any places to eat there. Last I went, there was a pizza place I believe in St. Francisville... I love Pizza myself...!
My Vote: St. Francisville, meet-up at the Belle at 0900hrs (early enough to enjoy the trip and back without being too late). |

I think we should get some input from everyone else that wants to come.
Considering some of those guys are going to be driving 1-2 hours just to meet up with us. If they are down for it, I'm down too. I'm not worried about really anything... I don't work weekends so I can drive wherever. |

David,
That's exactly why I placed a Vote (mine) - looks like Kaien voted the same (St. Francisville), and if I read you correctly, you're ok with St. Francisville as well. Everyone: Please place your votes as well: St. Francisville or River Road Paul |

Maybe someone can get or already has something to mount a cam inside their car. On the rear brace bar behind the seats so you can see the other Z'z while dirving. We should be able to get some real good videos.
