Question to Florida Residents
I am moving to Florida in a few months (in or near Spring Hill) from MA and I had a few quick questions that I want to check on:
1. I don't know if the answer I found is correct but you don't need a front license plate? 2. With a perfect driving record, insurance cost for the year (I currently have Geico) 3. Max Tint is 28, 15, 15 (Front, Rear, Back) 4. How are emission tests? What will not pass with aftermarket? Will HFC's pass? 5. License Plate Length? 7 Numbers/Letters? I tried finding on Florida Law's pages but only found tint.... Thanks for any help Any other info will be greatly appreciated Last edited by Dr. JD; 07-20-2010 at 03:36 AM. |

2. Mine is like ~725/ 6 months w Geico's 4-pay plan... 3. Cops don't enforce tint around here, and I see cars with limo tint all the time. If your car is super dark, I wouldn't worry about it. 4. No emissions testing. Good for car guys, bad for the air... 5. I thought 7 letters was the standard in all states...

1. Nope.
2. It's really going to depend on a lot of factors, city, age, record, etc. I think I pay around $450/6 months for full coverage (100/300/100) and a $500 deductible. 3. Cops don't tend to care too much about tint. I've always had at least 20, but right now 15, and never once a problem. You're only going to run into issues if you go extremely dark (below 10) and are doing something else wrong. 4. No emission testing. Do whatever the hell you want! 5. 6. Hope that helps! |

You're in Largo, eh? I'm right down the street in Clearwater. I went from State Farm to Nationwide. Better coverage, smaller deductible, and still a good amount cheaper than what I was paying.

Insurance depends on way too many factors.
Just to name a few: Credit rating Rent or mortgage Gargage or lack there of Military service Government Emp Married / Single Student Zip code (Florida isn’t the same everywhere you go) Age / sex You aren't going to get an accurate estimate by asking random FL residents what they pay. Rather or not tint is enforced depends on which county in Florida you're in, not just Florida in general. And even then it's highly doubtful anyone knows for sure.

I know the factors, just getting an idea what others are paying with perfect ratings...no biggy...I did a quote through Geicko for me in addition to the 2008 T&C for the family and they quoted be $900 for the year for both cars.....(about $600 for the 370z). No emissions, damn, but the loudness of the exhaust will count...I found some HFC's which will work well....Thanks everyone! Going in August to look at a couple of houses and hit Universal with the kids...going to be a great time

Right but you do understand those "factors" play a massive role and therefore it's rather pointless to know what others pay for car insurance as it’s a very personalized thing. Not only that but the only people you’re really going to get input from or from those who are proud of what they pay. It’s the same deal when people ask others what their car payment is. You don’t get an accurate estimate as to what the average individual pays, just those that like to boost about their low payment.
