AAM Comp Mid-Pipe Tune
This may of have been brought up before but i have not found anything on it. I am thinking about ordering the mid-pipe from AAM because of the dyno gains they show on their charts. I already have the short tails. However, I was wondering if I Install the mid-pipe would I need a tune right after? Will it make my 370 run too lean or rich etc? Thank you guys for your help. I really appreciate it.

X2 ^^ Until you replace the stock cats you are good to go with no tune.. at that point it is highly recommended.

Ok great! What HFC's would be recommended? I've seen several with Berk's

Probably avoid the HFC for now. I think it will get too loud. I ordered my short tails and s-line midpipe. If i were to add a HFC, ill most likely remove the short tails and add a nismo axle back.

^ This. AAM short tails & Midpipe is a pretty loud combo. Adding test pipes, resonated test pipes, or HFCs would get really loud.. I wouldnt recommend it.
With midpipe, short tails + a tune you are looking at around 25-30whp.. Those are good gains!

when i added the short tails I needed to get a tune since removing the stock muffler the car runs rich and requires a tune before it can run normally again. So i cant see why this would not need a tune.

Ive had the short tails on my car for over 50k and haven't had a tune. I also have never had an issue (knock on wood). With the added midpipe, you wont need a tune either. The tune will simply make the car perform even better, within the AFR specs and limits, and increase the amount of horsepower you'll see from your mods. Like i said before, AAM claims 22whp from S-tails and midpipe. With a tune, youll pull another 5-10whp out of it.

Opening up the exhaust allows more airflow in and out of the engine, it will run leaner. Minor changers might add richness on anything but full throttle, but for the most part, it will always be leaner with more breather mods. Running a bit rich is safe and hence, no tune necessary. Running too lean on the other hand, can be bad and why we say "get tuned" after you do intakes, cbe and testpipe, headers, or HFC.

maybe at the lower end RPM's it would run richer but then as you got into the higher RPM's around three to four thousand is when it would lean up? I just noticed that the lower RPM's lost torque after getting the short tails sent via my hand puter-ma-jig

Yes i wanted to see what people's opinions on it where and from those who have the set up already to get some feedback from them. It is really appreciated. I might just do the mid-pipe along with my short tails and maybe Stillen G3 intakes.
