SoCalVQ GMR Run 04/21/2012
Fun drive from Glendora Mountain Road (Upland) to Azusa. There will be a professional photographer on site if you would like some photos (complimentary from Club SoCalVQ to you). OC Caravan: Time to meet up: 10 AM. Lead off at 10:30 AM. Usual spot like last time. Top of the Diamond Jamboree parking structure in Irvine. Address: 2750 Alton Pkwy Irvine, CA 92614. Leading off, OC caravan will meet up LA/Burbank/others at 11:30 AM. in the VONS parking lot. Address: 550 East Baseline Road, Claremont, CA, 91711. At 12:15, we'll hit GMR. Anyway I can meet up with you guys when you're on your way over?.. cuz Irvine is pretty far from GMR, & I live much closer to Glendora/Azusa anyways. Haha

That looks like a fun drive. I usually come in from the Glendora side instead of the Mt. Baldy (Glendora Ridge Road) side. The cruise seems a bit anti-climatic though. There's nothing at the final destination according to your map. I understand it's not the destination but the journey. But really, there isn't even a rest stop at the end of this cruise.
A more fun and complete drive would be to take the East Fork Road to Highway 39 then go up to Crystal Lake Cafe. There's a big parking lot, restrooms, and food at the top. The drive is also pretty scenic. Although it isn't as technical and twisty as GMR or GRR, it's fun nevertheless. Planning on attending
There does not seem to be much of a response for this run. Is there another forum where people are confirming attendance. I just have a few questions.
1. How many people have confirmed meeting in Irvine for the OC Caravan. 2. Would you classify this run group as beginner, intermediate, or advance. I plan to be there but just want to see if it is still on. |
