Malibu Canyon Run/Cruise.....Saturday, April 18th

Date: Saturday, April 18th

Location: Subway/Ralphs Parking Lot
23705 Malibu Rd.
Malibu CA. 90265

Park near Subway by the edge of the parking lot along the street/PCH
google map: 23705 Malibu Rd, Malibu, CA 90265 - Google Maps

Time: 9:00 a.m.
Try to be on time. We'd like to leave promptly at 9:30am. We can make a few stops along the way for pictures and then get some food afterwards.

Things to bring: Two-way/FRS radios, water, cameras, AAA cards for anyone in need.
Things to check: tire pressure, oil, arrive with gas

Note: Safety first. Please be mindful of your fellow Z drivers as well as the other drivers on the road. The general rule of thumb is faster drivers up front and those who just wish to cruise near the back. Please drive at your own pace and do not be pressured into driving faster than you feel comfortable with.

With pictures, stops and driving, it will take roughly two hours or so. I'm thinking we can get food at Neptunes Net afterwards.

Oh and joey tell me if you want to make it earlier, either way is fine for me.

Add your name to the list if you can make it. It should be a good time.

from the meet site where would the drive be?
just a thought...wouldnt it be better to do it on a sunday morning? less cars on the roads

joeyz10 04-09-2009 11:57 AM

There's a good variety of canyon roads through Malibu. We can drive some canyon roads, which will then dump us onto PCH where we can cruise to our eating location.

If there's a consensus vote for sunday, we can do that. Either day works for me.

Count me in. Question what is a FRS radio? How much do these cost?

joeyz10 04-10-2009 06:11 PM

FRS are those walky-talky radios that you can buy at any storeslike walmart or target that says it how many miles the coverage are....

joeyz10 04-10-2009 06:13 PM

Just the basic versions of these radios will do fine, so need to spend a lot of money. They really come in handy during these type of drives, and you can always use them elsewhere, whether that be snowboarding or whatever....

Again something basic is fine, but I'd at least get something with sub-channels

Cobra - MicroTALK 10-Mile, 22-Channel FRS/GMRS 2-Way Radios (Pair) - PR190-2VP

Hopefully everything works out for you. I had a feeling that the light would go away when restarted this morning....guess that didn't happen.

What's the Malibu Canyon cruise like? Is it somewhat technical like GMR/GRR and those types of roads? Or is it more relaxed like Blackstar Canyon and Carbon Canyon.

never been to malibu canyon im assuming its just PCH

but the canyon road we are taking(the one in the map)
is pretty relaxed(well depends on how you are driving -lol)
it has a good share of twisties and straight aways

BUT!!!! big BUTTT lol
**FYI for those going to be in the caravan**
it get boring when there are other cars(slow cars)
and also since this is a known canyon for "runs" (cars and sport bikes alike)
cops sometimes tend to be around
so please lets be safe and just have fun

There's a variety of roads from tight like GMR to more open like angeles crest. I have a decent route planned, we can drive more or less depending on what you guys want. Carbon canyon pales in comparison.

Towards the end, there's a short cruise down PCH towards our lunchtime destination, Neptune's net.
