what is socal to you? LA? SD? OC?...
in sd rent usually starts @ 1k a month and that is generally without a garage and anywhere from 600-900 sq ft; 1 bedroom or a studio. I had a apartment in Rancho San Diego, it is a bit east ~20 mi from beach gated and had a garage for ~1350 before bills. Cable, Internet, Elec, Water, etc... 1000 sqft though.

I was thinking LA. I don't really care about commuting, yet. My budget is apparently very tight from what people are writing. I am by myself so I just need a studio apartment.

Careful. Have you driven in LA rush hour before? It's not fun. My commute is just under 13 miles and can easily take me 50 min to get home after work - and that's without an accident for rubberneckers to slow down for!

Close to the beaches, right next to Culver City, not that far from Hollywood or Downtown. Plus a lot of college honies in that area. Not that anyone moves to LA for social reasons... Check out that link Trips posted. If you truly don't mind commuting, some of the outlying areas are great for the money. Plus, you're closer to some kick *** driving canyon roads! Long beach is "supposedly" really coming up though. I'd actually consider a condo out there now, where as before it'd be a definite hells no. North Hollywood too. Pretty inexpensive and becoming more young and artsy (galleries, music, etc). And NoHo is nothing like actually Hollywood. Hell, nothing is like the actual Hollywood. Well, maybe South Beach, but that's another topic. GOOD LUCK. Oh, and if you have $60 bucks, and are not already out here, might not be a bad idea to check out Los Angeles Apartments, Orange County Apartments, and San Diego Apartments (westsiderentals .com). I knew a girl who got an apartment I'd kill for in Pasadena - cliffside (i'm talking half on stilts), crazy view, big *** deck, sweet wrap around windows, and it was only like $900). You gotta be patient though. Anyway, again, good luck!

Ya long beach has its good spots and its bad onea... but thats just about anywhere.. best spots are los altos, belmont shore, and near lakewood. Downtown long beach is nice usually just be sure to get a garage.. there is absolutly NO parking anywhere down there. Rent can be from 900 to 1800 depending on where and how much space you need. |
