Will I make it?
So I'm going on a 3 day trip to Vegas this week and I just wanted to know if any of you guys drove from socal to vegas without an oil cooler. You guys think I'll be ok? Or will I hit the infamous limp mode..any input would be great. Thanks!

Oil temps usually aren't an issue with highway driving. It's stop & go traffic in high heat and high stress driving that usually creates a problem.

Unless you drive with the rpm's close to redline the whole way there, it won't be an issue. The oil heats up when the engine is doing a lot of work like on a track were the engine is constantly revving. On the street its very hard to put into limp mode unless your driving really aggressive. Highway is not an issue like Mustang said, because the engine is usually steady at around 3500 rpm's and isn't doing a lot of work.
Safe trip.

the last person to make that run was TamZ, and she ran into some issues. but i think that was with a lot of traffic on the roads. just leave at decent times and you'll be fine, i think.

Just a tip if you do run into high heat.
Turn the heater all the way up and on high. It pulls heat out of the system and should bring your temps down. Trust me, I've done this and it works. |

I've done the run to Vegas twice in my z with the AC blowing the entire way. No problems at all. I did hit 240-250 oil temps once but I eased off the gas a little and stopped driving like I was on a race track it went back down.
You'll be ok.

Just came back from vegas yesterday. It was fine. I did couple 140-150 runs and temp got to 260 really quickly but cruising 90-100 was not an issue.
