I am running GTM Comp. Oil cooler kit. Normal driving the oil temperature is about 180. I took it to the canyon run this past Sunday, driving in 2nd and 3rd (mostly in 2nd), and the oil temperature was peaked up around 220. Triple's Z can confirm this. I got the same setup as his .

I agree, plus using the thermostatic sandwich plate that comes with the GTM Kit, doesn't allow oil to flow thru the cooler till it gets up normal operating temp ftw!

The GTM has the thermostatic plate though right?
I read on some thread(can't remember which one) that using the oil cooler, the running temperature is too cold without the thermostatic plate during the winter time.

From what I read, the Stillen oil cooler doesn't have the plate. So I was wondering if I would have any problems with running too cold during the winter time without the plate if I go with the Stillen. Although, it doesn't really get cold in LA.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Trips and Zero. Since you both have the GTM with the plate, did you have any problems getting up to operating temps during last winter?
I am trying to get this all sorted out since I want to be able to do the install this Saturday
Also, anyone in the LA area running the Stillen 25 row have any problems running too cold or is it doing just fine.
Thanks again.

I'm usually up early morning and it's about 60C around here in the morning. It takes about 10 minutes of driving to get the temperature up. It hardly passes 180 in the morning, cruising on the roads or fwy.

Not sure where you read that, sorry for the confusion, but all STILLEN Oil Coolers come with a thermostatic plate, which will begin opening at 160 degrees and be fully open at 180 degrees, allowing your car to safely come to temperature.

And Fontana Nissan is a great place to have it installed.. those guys are on the ball.

Thanks Josh, I must have been misinformed in one of the threads that I read.

Since when? I was one of the 1st people to get the Stillen "race" oil cooler and mine did not come with a thermo-plate.

To the original poster...last winter I covered most of my oil cooler with a home made cover. Works like a charm. Before my morning temps would not go over 165. With the cover even with ambient temps in the high 30's my oil temp still reached 180.

The first couple of kits shipped without, I'd be happy to work an exchange with you, PM me if that's a concern.

Most won't need one, but there are certain times of the year, and definitely certain climates can keep things too cool.

My apologies, I was under the impression all customers had been contacted for the exchange.
