Check out cost of living websites on google. In there you'll be able to find more detailed information that fits you and your situation (not posting site to avoid advertising/bias).

As a person who has commuted to work 100 miles round trip a day for the past three and a half years.. find a job down here first. You should secure a job and see what city/area it's in first, then find a place that fits your budget and isn't ridiculously far away from your work. Saving a couple hundred bucks might not be worth being stuck in traffic for hours everyday and wanting to kill yourself on the 405 freeway.
