Petit Le Mans Sept. 23-26

12th Annual Petit Le Mans Sept. 23-26
Road Atlanta

Anybody going? I usually go on Friday and Saturday of the event.

Mike 08-18-2009 10:14 AM

I like to go, but I have a track day that weekend somewhere. I have it circled on my calender, but can't remember what track it is! Oh wait, its the Z1 Nationals. Friday at little talladega and car show at Z1 on saturday.

Ryan@Forged 08-18-2009 10:15 AM

I will be there :)

Hope to see some of you there.

xiven 08-18-2009 10:23 AM

Wow, that's bad timing. I didn't realize it was the same weekend as Z Nationals. Road Atlanta is a 40 min drive for me though and I go every year so I guess I'll stick with the LeMans. Ryan, are you guys there as vendors or just spectators?

cow 08-18-2009 10:23 AM

I wish I could make it. Ah well.

xiven 08-18-2009 10:26 AM

looks like the new vette C6.R will be racing

Ryan@Forged 08-18-2009 10:34 AM

I'll be there as a spectator. We have no plans of now as being there as vendors. I'll let you know if that changes. I would be more than happy to meet up with some of you guys to hang out. :) Have a nice little 370z meet at RA.

xiven 08-18-2009 10:41 AM

Turn 10a will be my hub for the most part. I venture over to the S turns at Turn 5 every now and then to watch them come down the hill and also at the hairpin.

I expect there to be alot more people there this year with the gas prices being lower than they were last year.

Ryan@Forged 08-18-2009 10:44 AM

Ya, those are all good spots. It's nice having a race long enough to be able to walk to all of the good spots and spectate for awhile at each spot :) I love Le Mans.

RCZ 08-18-2009 05:58 PM

I am going, but will not be driving, I'll be flying in. Did you guys see there are 12 support races? Its going to be amazing.

kevr6 09-02-2009 09:51 PM

Since Audi will be there I'll probably be there! Hopefully Acura will get a good smack down!

RCZ 09-04-2009 01:45 PM

I got my tickets, all ready to go.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Audi at the Le Mans.

Let me know where you'll be at on the infield

Dustin@Z1 09-04-2009 04:13 PM

You guys better get good pictures, wish I could be going. Hopefully next year....

Xiven, we definitely need to get a few posts brewing on here for the other Road Atlanta meets we were talking about at the Varsity. Walter Mitty being a big one along with Drift Atlanta. I attend both of these on a regular basis, and would love to be able to claim a spot in the infield for Z's only.

RCZ 09-04-2009 05:00 PM

I will take tons of pictures for sure!

Couple from earlier this year.

I'm all for it. I never miss The Mitty. I've been to Drift once but I'll definitely go if we can get a group together.

xiven 09-15-2009 09:47 AM

I'm about to get my advance ticket.

Roll call...Who's going? Where do you guys want to meet? I'm usually around Turn 10A. We can meet there or somewhere else in the infield. I'm flexible.

Yeah, those amco colors should immediately scream sebring.

We got the infield parking.

kevr6 09-20-2009 09:20 PM

Is there going to be a location infield that we can park together? Usually it's so packed that if you aren't part of a corral you can't do that. Turn 10 is near the tunnel which I don't recall as having great parking. I usually get there early and park near turn 2 just past the car club corrals. You generally see all the wrecks that take place off of turn 1.
Any suggestions?

xiven 09-21-2009 09:31 AM

PM sent kevr

RCZ 09-21-2009 10:40 AM

Its going to be my first time at RA so I don't really know where parking is good. We are going to have a crappy rental car so it doesnt matter as far as we are concerned. I'll see you guys there tho.

xiven 09-21-2009 10:50 AM

Turn 2 and Turn 7 are options right now. Sucks that parking is $40. Maybe kevr6 has a hookup at least on parking passes??? Wishful thinking I guess. Pack some rain gear, i'm not sure when we are going to get a break from all this rain. They may not do the night session on Thursday if its raining bad. I think I remember them cancelling it one time.

RCZ 09-21-2009 06:00 PM

Yeah I hope there isn't a foot of water on the track...though it does make for a more exciting race.

bullitt5897 09-21-2009 06:31 PM

Xiven, a few others and myself should be doing a caravan to the track... Rain or shine its going to be an interesting race! I vote for turn 7 as we can get up close and have easy access to Turns 10a&b, 9, 8, 7, 6, and 5... there is a plus to 7 as well because it is PAVED! turn 2 is not! let me know what everyone thinks.

Only problem w/ turn 7 is the campers line up against the fence making this village. So you end up in each campers area to see over the wall. Also forget about parking there. But give it a try!! I may be wrong!! It is a good vantage point to see hot glowing brake rotors!! :tiphat:

RCZ 09-28-2009 01:52 PM

Well it was great till they called it. I was actually standing next to them when they made the decision to call it.

kevr6 09-28-2009 05:34 PM

I enjoyed the race even with the cold wet weather. Thanks to Mike we had a good position on the hill! (we also were on TV a couple times)

For those of you who missed this.

After Scott Sharp was involved in a horrific crash during practice, his team rebuilt an entire Le Mans car from scratch in less than 24 hours and had it ready to compete.
