Thanks for the input gentlemen! I called Tony yesterday afternoon - ordered a set of the resonated HFC's. Man...they are PROUD of their product! And it will take 5 weeks to get them! But I know they are worth it.

So now my questions now are...

1) do I tune NOW - or wait until the Ark goes on? (which will be within a month (ish) after the hfc's go on). This is my 2nd breathing mod - gen 3 cai was 1st
2) I'm not on the track - this is my dd... and assuming "UpRev" is the ONLY way to go, what is my best buy package?
- not going tt
- maybe a 100 shot or some mild nos add later, but that's probably all
- so that should do it for performance mods - unless I get some cool epiphany later :-)
3) Headers (I feel) are a waste of money with these excellent exhausts - Yes?

My basic warranty just expired not too long ago - so I am playing catch up with mods now! Whatever experienced advice I can get will be great! Thanks again guys!

Wait until you have all of your mods done before tuning. I have almost the exact same setup you will end up with, and I have to ask, why the Ark Grip instead of the FI exhaust?

2) I'm not on the track - this is my dd... and assuming "UpRev" is the ONLY way to go, what is my best buy package?

If you're not going to go TT, then LTH or your current setup is a good way to go. The only other bolt on that will make measureable power is the Z1 intake manifold. Your golden setup for N/A power is:

Stillen Gen 3 Intakes
Z1 Intake Manifold
F.I. LTHs or HFCs or TPs
Exhaust

Follow that up with a GOOD tune, and you will make more power, it will drive better, and youll get better MPG (that was the biggest surprise to me).

DO NOT USE NITROUS ON A Z. RECIPE FOR DISASTER.

3) Headers (I feel) are a waste of money with these excellent exhausts - Yes?

LTH are the only headers worth the money, specifically the F.I. LTHs, the PPE are decent too.

Mainly - Ark over F.I. - because of the time it takes to get it - the Ark sounds as good (if not better) and I won't have to wait 3 months to get it.

But also because I was thinking I needed to NOT run the car much without a tune, after the hfc install.

Someone (?) told me I would need to change injectors if I went with the manifold swap... didn't research it for myself - but will definitely look into that - now that you mentioned it :-)

I do all my own labor - but I'm not very savvy with all the tech stuff - tuning & all that - never had it old school lol

Well I will give you a few tips, I currently have the Ark Grip, and while it does sound good, I will soon be selling it to get my F.I. exhaust. I do installs on the side for extra cash, and after installing a bunch of different exhausts, I can tell you the build quality and fitment on the F.I. is unbelievably good.

You absolutely do not need to change injectors on this car unless you want to go E85 or Forced Induction, however the Z1 intake manifold is the only bolt on that requires you to tune afterwards.

Dont try to tune it yourself, take it to a reputable shop that is UpRev certified.

Good words!

Daniel at F.I. told me there is a Nissan dealer somewhere in Fla that buys their systems in bulk (which adds to the wait time of individuals wanting to buy them) and then re-sells them with mark-up so you don't have to wait - but I've been unsuccessful in locating them.

Is there an UPREV cert shop in Orlando? I think there are 2 in Tampa - and I'm pretty sure NONE in Ocala or G'ville... maybe someone doing a group tune?

So - you are in line for an F.I. catback now? If so, how long til you get yours, and how much for your Ark? lol I suppose I should reconsider the catback thoughts. hmmm :-)

For uprev I went to PRS in sanford, they did a decent tune for an OK price, but theyre not uprev certified so ill get it done again at some point to have multiple maps, probably at Zspeed in Tampa.

Ill think over how much Im going to sell the ARK for and ill PM you when I decide.

wait, you don't need a tune at this point. The car actually learns pretty well and can adapt to the mods, you don't have to worry about knock or anything like that. You only need a tune to get all the power you can out of your mods.

2) I'm not on the track - this is my dd... and assuming "UpRev" is the ONLY way to go, what is my best buy package?

Uprev is the way to go, there's ECUtek but it's expensive and is kinda geared towards people who want to customize every aspect of their ECU.

Also, please don't do nitrous. It's too easy to melt your motor lol

3) Headers (I feel) are a waste of money with these excellent exhausts - Yes?

Depends. I personally wanted to get more power and a better sound, and if I'd gotten the test pipes every time I saw someone with headers I'd have been jealous lol. They're expensive, and the install is a pain, but you get good gains and as I said before, the sound is sex to your ears. Headers net you (by themselves) about 20hp, while TP's get you more like 10hp. Midrange tq is also improved. Otherwise you can just get the lesser version of them and go with HFC/TP's and save some money.

My basic warranty just expired not too long ago - so I am playing catch up with mods now! Whatever experienced advice I can get will be great! Thanks again guys!

This is why you should get FI headers and exhaust:

Sounds great man... LostSol has helped convince me to go all F.I - I already had the resonated hfc's bought, but now I'm workin on adding the LTH and the CBE from F.I. -Also, going to head up to Z1 in Ga. once I get the exhaust completed and let them do the UpRev tune after they add the plenum. Happy with my decision at this point...could be less than 5 weeks from done! Thanx for what I believe is good advice,to LostSol, Huck, G37Some

FYI you cant use both the HFC's and the LTH, the long tube part of the header means it replaces both the stock shorty headers and the cats and bolts directly to the cat back.

Make sure you tell Tony that Matt Ryan sent you!

*EDIT* @ Huck, I had VHT NiteShades for my tails on my old Z but they would go so light after a few months, despite being sprayed quite black. Any tricks to combat the FL sun? Since you have them as black as I had/want for my new Z.
I had them professionally sanded and painted, clear coat with a bit of tint to it, 4 coats.

how is the rasp/hiss huck? in the video it doesnt sound crappy to me at all, as I was under the impression from various reviews

edit; i really need to hear the LTH+CBE side by side (in person) with motordyne cbe & art pipes. i love both of these set ups, i hope i get an extra 2k lying around someday to switch out my current exhaust/hfc
Actually in person I believe my car was slightly louder than the GTR, but when I was driving mine the guy wasn't pointing the mic directly at the car so it wasn't quite as loud.

Rasp is a different thing for everyone, when I think of rasp I think of a civic with a fart can on it. Some people think an F1 car is raspy. My car sounds closer to racecar and nothing like a fart canned civic lol.

Once I get my car back you'll have a few combos to listen to. David (Krazy) is gonna have almost the same setup as me, while Megan has the exhaust and motordyne art pipes. A lot of our club members have FI

!
yeah thats the best way to have the tail lights tinted. the overlay tint films are harder to adhere tbh. especially for the Gs tail lights.

glad to hear your definition of rasp because im 100% on the same page. that metallic can noise is garbage, a high pitched exotic scream isnt rasp in my book.

can't wait to start my new job, chatter like this is going to force me to revamp my whole set up and eat ramen noodles for a month lol.
