Georgia get to know each other get together?

Hey!

Just looking around and see alot of newer GA members. So maybe we should all plan some get together and just get to know everyone.

Preliminarily, we should set a date far enough that we can all plan to make it (Savannah, Augusta, etc)

Im good pretty much most weekends if I know in advance!

Cloud 01-03-2011 11:59 PM

hey daisuke,

I'm in savannah and weekends are good for me. I know that other people meet up on saturday nights here.

torpedo2k 01-04-2011 07:28 PM

Savannah would work for me. Just need to know a few weeks in advance. Any ideas on a location?
-Downtown is atrocious for parking
-We have a Hooters @ 204/I95
-Westside- Pooler- Lovezollas used to host car events. Havent seen one in a while though.
-Wileys Championship BBQ- its small but I know the owners and could ask them about an event.

Savannah may not be the best central location unfortunately, but it all depends on who all shows interest in this thread ya know. I know its a pain to drive from SAv to Atlanta and vice versa but if theres enough interest im sure we can find a middle ground somewhere.

thats what im lookin for actually.

SPOHN 01-05-2011 06:56 AM

I'd be up for something. If you want to get to know me I'm not easy on the first date.

torpedo2k 01-05-2011 07:54 AM

Dublin. Its sort of middle...
:stirthepot:

And on the first date- I'm not easy. Just expensive.

bullitt5897 01-05-2011 11:46 AM

Seriously, I would come car or not... but not all the way to savannah thats a long haul for only a few hours... Macon I could possibly do but ATL will be your best bet!

SPOHN 01-05-2011 11:51 AM

+1 Atlanta. Im only 40 miles from Macon though.

doublea2527 01-06-2011 05:33 PM

Im in the savannah area, so that would be cool, or anywhere within 4 hours.

daisuke149 01-06-2011 06:30 PM

realistically.. I think Macon would be the best bet. central to Savannah, Augusta and Atlanta. (about 2 hours each, even for those of us in the north atlanta area)

But i agree, this isnt worth it if we meet for 2 hours and go home. So.. anyone in Macon/familiar know of good/fun things to do which we can spend time doing? Or areas where we can hang out for a while.

Heck actually, all the savannah guys can cruise out together, same for atlanta, and that would make the drive an event too.

eddieconfetti 01-07-2011 10:19 PM

What about z1. when would they do another picnic like last time or is it too cold.

daisuke149 01-07-2011 10:26 PM

im sure they will. And im not thinking of this meet in like 2 weeks. PLanning something bigger is gonna be a bit and for people to drive 1-2 hours is gonna need advance notice. Maybe I can hit them up as see as I will be there tomorrow.

Cloud 01-08-2011 08:19 AM

Well Pharmacy school's scheduling kinda sucks, but keep me posted and I'll see what I can do.

eddieconfetti 01-08-2011 09:48 PM

O thats fine. Gives me more time to save up to get stuff.

'10Anamoly 01-10-2011 09:34 AM

I'm down for Sav or Atl as always, got places to stay in both!

Z1804 01-10-2011 09:48 AM

I could do either as well. So far, Macon sounds like the best alternative. As it will allow the guys for Augusta to make it and the Atlanta guys won't have to drive 4 hours.

Carbon_z 01-10-2011 09:33 PM

but macon doesnt have anything... I think Atlanta would be the best choice. You have places to drink, Andrittes, Clubs, city...etc etc.

im down depending on date. thats really the only reason why I wouldnt be able to meet up. I wont ditch 370z for tv or etc.....already got a gf so theres really nothing else lol

NewlyIMPORTed 01-10-2011 10:57 PM

Did anyone near ATL get stuck on 75 today I saw a blue Z on the news lol

Carbon_z 01-10-2011 11:44 PM

lol somebody actually drove the Z in this condition? I have been grounded all day. I attempted to leave in my girlfriends g35 sedan and after 35 minutes of trying to make it down the driveway and thru the gate I decided to leave the car and quit lol....

SPOHN 01-11-2011 05:08 AM

I saw in the news yesterday a 23 year old was killed driving a 350. They said speed and alcohol was a factor. Somewhere in Merietta.

torpedo2k 01-17-2011 08:31 AM

I wish I was Asian...

IMWEZL 01-17-2011 08:36 AM

Varsity in ATL is a nice place to meet up. Usually importatlanta has a monthly meet. It's been a few years since I've been to one since I moved outside of the continental US.

I might head back to GA sometime in May. I don't look forward to meeting up with GSP on I-20. I'm too used to going whatever speed I want out here in Korea.

daisuke149 01-17-2011 11:11 AM

I talked with a buncha the Atlanta folks and we'd be willing to do Macon. IT should be a middle point for august, Atlanta and Savannah. Problem is what to do there. Doesnt seem anyone I talked to know the city at all.

Rofl whoops, I had it confused with the Feb 20th meet.

Carbon_z 01-17-2011 06:25 PM

so wait... whats the date again ? lol btw nobody contacted me :(

SPOHN 01-17-2011 07:22 PM

I know a little bit of Macon (girls). There's really not much there to me. More of a shopping place. Jackson is where I grew up. The parks are not much. And I promise you, the cops are bad. Small town. This might not not be as much as I hate it. Have to find a good popular bar or something.

It's seems like we're really having trouble figuring out a location and what to do. If the Savannah guys don't mind an early morning drive to Atlanta, the Atlanta guys can host a BBQ, Install, and Dyno Day at Z1. Afterwards, we can take a drive to the city to do whatever.

Then, the Savannah guys can host something in Savannah if they don't mind and we can drive down there. Savannah is a beautiful city so I'm always open for a drive. The only thing is that 16 is a killer. I figured with a group it shouldn't be that bad. We have to come down for ZCon anyway.

Carbon_z 01-17-2011 08:56 PM

savannah would be awesome... during st. patricks or spring break or hot weather lmao.. otherwise i vote ATLANTA.

Savannah is a no go during St. Patricks day!!! the cops in savannah are very unfriendly to drivers during this time! I know I was pulled over on st patties day one year and was really hassled.

'10Anamoly 01-18-2011 06:58 AM

I lived in Savannah for years and went to St. Patty's Day every time without issue. The only big problem is there is no parking anywhere. The cops are only bad if you drive like an idiot b/c they are harsh on drinking and driving. If you drive normal, they are not going to harass you. If they did for no reason, get their badge and call the station about it, simple as that.

torpedo2k 01-18-2011 08:04 AM

Savannah:
-I work downtown on River Street. The week of St Pats I telecommute. Its too crazy for me to work. I'm on the first floor and my window is tinted, people were urinating behind the bushes about three feet from me...:icon23:

-ZCON is across the river at the Westin. Very nice place. The track is pretty cool as well. Although it is now a public road. Dont know what they have planned for it with ZCON.

-An event in ATL then one in SAV would be fun.

There are lots of places that would be great to hang out in SAV. Savannah Mall has tons of parking. Anywhere near downtown will be a parking nightmare. If we were to start off in Pooler (SAV Westside) we could take a ride downtown. There is a new bowling alley, theater and a local pizza place that holds car shows occasionally.

'10Anamoly 01-18-2011 08:14 AM

Agreed with Torpedo2k, downtown parking is a no go. For St. Patty's I typically go to Oglethorpe Mall and get a taxi so I dont have to worry about cops/etc and overpriced parking.

The Westin is nice, we had a room there for my wedding night.

The track is on Hutchinson Island and that track used to be an old grand prix course. It's a lot of fun and will be awesome for ZCON.

Plus, Moon River Brewing company is downtown (beer FTW).

I like this idea! I live in Savannah, and wouldnt mind a drive to ATL at all.
