Working on that as we speak. I will be posted soon.

He guys, I will post time and location shortly.

JvKintheUSA 10-09-2010 01:09 PM

I know some of you need to drive an hour to get to Canton, but I suggest 9am - it is a reasonable time on a Saturday. By the time we are all ready to go, it probably will be 9:30am or later. A suggested route is below - it is the route we did on our first mountain run a few months back, and we ended up in Helen area, which we can explore further since we did not have time to go further North, or we can take 60 all the way up. The starting point will be the Canton Starbucks on Riverstone Parkway (353 Riverstone Pkwy # 110, Canton). There will be multiple stops along the way, so we can change the route at any point.

Riverstone Pkwy to I-575 S - Google Maps - Google Maps Scroll left to find the route in BLUE
1. Leave Canton Starbucks - get a coffee for on the road (point A)
2. Stop 1 at the overlook - take some pics and enjoy the scenery
3. Stop 2 if lunchtime stop at Chic-fil-A in Dahlonega with possible pictures at lake Zwerner just north of there (point G on map).
4. Stop at Vogel state park - not sure if we have to pay to get in, but maybe stop there for a minute.
5. Head back folks from the east-side can take 400 back south, other take rt 53 through Dawsonville to Tate, which is a nice route.

i might need to find a couch closer to ATL the night before... that's a 3 hour drive so i'd need to leave my apt at 6am just to get there as ya'll are leaving :(

great idea! downloading now...

Dpeters 10-11-2010 10:20 AM

So my wife might be interested in riding shotgun with me but I don't know if this is gonna be mainly a dude fest or will others have "significant others" with them?

daisuke149 10-11-2010 10:38 AM

There should be kthers there. Its a family event

AuburnZ 10-11-2010 12:36 PM

I would recommend not going into Helen. Octoberfest will still be going on (in fact last weekend of the event) and the traffic is worse than normal.

daisuke149 10-11-2010 01:53 PM

hrmm thats a good idea.. helen is normally terrible anyway even with out events.

sigh.. i just dropped my car off at the dealership! woo.. cant wait.

Z1804 10-11-2010 03:57 PM

The ride to the site where I went to the retreat was through the mountains and had some pretty nice and tough turns. I'm just not familiar with the area.

daisuke149 10-11-2010 04:37 PM

James.. cars in yo. Ahh a good set of wheels would finish it! :p

cereal2k 10-12-2010 07:59 AM

A pace discussion is a good idea! I can't keep up with you 350s and 370s LOL. I guess I'll need to invest in a 2 way radio. My cell service is not existent there.

HKYStormFront 10-12-2010 08:01 AM

yea we need to stress this is going to be a nice cruise. i went on a mountain cruise in NC a few weekends ago and we lost a car when the driver got in over his head :(

daisuke149 10-12-2010 08:31 AM

yeah im up for that. no one wants to lose their car.. or themselves.

HKYStormFront 10-12-2010 08:48 AM

yea there is nothing wrong with having some fun but keep the "testing the limits of my car" driving to track days where its legal and safer to do so. i love a good curvy mountain road (and curvy woman too...) but we need to be safe about it. luckily both the guys in the car that rolled were not hurt, i wouldn't want to tempt that fate again

JvKintheUSA 10-12-2010 09:32 AM

I'll bring my set of two-way radios - that is, if I can make it. Wife might have to work, so I would need to watch the kids. Will find out this week.

daisuke149 10-12-2010 09:49 AM

bring the kids... we should have enough empty passenger seats!
