Default Proven Power Dyno Database Thread

Hey folks,

Looks like several 370Z owners in Tampa have been going to Proven Power to use their dynojet. I will be doing the same sometime this week.

Given that we are all in the same (nearly year long) hot and humid conditions and all using the same dynojet means we can make direct comparisons between our vehicles with a great deal of confidence.

If you have a dyno, please post the printout of the dynoscan here, with details of the results, mod list, etc.

Also, if you can get the runfile, please email it to me and I can make a nice graph and post it for you (I have the Winpep software).

Even if you've posted the dyno elsewhere, at least post the link to it -- I think it will be helpful to collect all of the proven power info here.

Similarly, if you have data/runfile from another shop's dynojet in the region, it should also allow for a very close comparison, so feel free to post that here as well.

Thanks

Hey guys -- a hot 95*+ F day with insane humidity. Terrible day to dyno

This is for a bone stock 7AT after 5K with Nissan Ester oil. Oil temps ranged from 190 - 220; power readings ranged from about 275 to 280 over sucessive runs, with considerable consistency.

Had some interference on the signal pick up, so here are two of the cleanest and clearest runs to compare K&N (RED) vs paper filter (BLUE), but I'm happy to post them all if anyone wants to see them -- nothing to hide here.

Please add your dynojet 242 or 248 model dynos here, or shoot me the runfiles and I can make a chart for you

Impressive! 6whp/6wtq just from filters? Whenever I get my mods installed, I'll go there to dyno. They are estimating it to cost $300-400 to fit my HKS exhaust from my G35 onto the 370Z.

Where is proven power at? I'm thinking about having mine dynoed to see what kind of power i have with my mods.

Thanks! Check out the gains throughout the rev range!

Say, do you have a baseline from them? If so, please post the graph or email me the runfile

if not, I'd do that first so you can see exactly where you gain or lose

They are essentially on Busch Blvd which becomes Bullard Pkwy after 56th street and then becomes Temple Terrace Hwy.

If coming down Bush from 275, make a U-turn at Davis road and the shop will be on the right.

It's a bunch of beige garages -- no clear sign on the road.

How clean were your OEM filters when you set the baseline?

Wow... nice results on the drop-ins. I would have expected much less, if measurable at all.

Clean -- less than a few thousand miles.

Admittedly, those two runs showed the greatest gains, and subsequent runs put them closer, but the range only varied by a few whp per dyno, so the general conclusion that the K&N filters made some gains throughout the rev range is a valid one.

Both are the first runs after allowing the car to cool down a bit and the oil temps were at ~200 exactly for each, so they are the most equivalent runs for comparison.

Similar differences from baseline were found on a dynapack in the K&N thread, so I'm not all that surprised -- happy, but not surprised

Here's the first dyno plot comparing the K&N panel filters with OEM cats (BLUE) vs K&N + Test pipes (RED).

Gains were decent throughout the powerband. I purcahsed these test pipes off of ebay which includes an extra long defouler
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...Q5fAccessories

Oddly, the bolts it came with were the wrong size -- otherwise, well worth the cost.

More dynos and commentary to be posted in a few minutes...

Here's another chart that shows some of the gains throughout the rev range.

One interesting thing we noted today -- the Z either needs a key cycle or two to allow the ECU to adapt (we have no datalogging devices, so this is just speculation), or it is really wise to allow a little cool down before dynoing.

In either case, the above runfiles are fair comparisons; both were the first runs after allowing the car to cool down a bit and the oil temps were at ~200* F.

Headers, cat back, intakes, and finally tuning yet to come... stay tuned!

Nice gains. The numbers seem to make sense. I made 275/225 stock then 286/235 with K&N drop-ins and HFC's....test pipes definitely seem to be a good buy.

I'm surprised they were able to get an accurate TQ curve...they were never able to with my Z and several others. I want to dyno mine again once the weather gets cooler and to see if the ecu "learned" anything after awhile. Let me know next time you dyno your car there again and I'll head up there with you.

Thanks!

They seem to have some issues with the signal pick up... I think they swapped out the sensor for my runs.

Say, do you either have your drf files or would you mind calling them to give permission for Daryl to share them with me -- if that's cool just tell 'em it's okay to share the files with Jordan.

I just like to have the data to see how consistent the values are across vehicles and set-ups.

^^^ Thanks

Son of a fvcking whore -- I just got a CEL tonight

Just to make sure this isn't something else -- is the "service engine soon" light the same for all issues or is it possible that something else is fvcked up?

Argh -- guess I need to get the code to see what's the matter. I suppose it could also be the mysterious evap problem some people have.
