Atlanta Wake up!

Hey Atlantians!

This is a wake up! why are we letting Seattle be more active than us! comeon...

Even Virginia pfft! thats just shameful.. (sorry VA)

lol

But yeah, we have threads going about trying to work out more meets, more events and we need people to participate and state their opinions. Even if your opinion is "I dont care anything works for me" just let us know!

This is a forum, forums are meant to share ideas so even if you think my idea is dumb, just throw it out!

Also join the South East Z owners Group under the social groups, we can keep some local threads and discussions going there.

kevr6 07-05-2010 07:09 PM

I've wondered about this also!! Used to so much more activity!

I have to agree with you Dai. It seems like Atlanta has the potential to be so much more active. Many of the other areas meet weekly. I'm not advocating one or the other, but it would be nice if we gathered more frequently. I know I'm new to the 370Z community so I'm always looking to meet new people and learn. I don't believe I'm the only one who's this.

I think Dai is challenging us ATLANTA, what's our response?

'10Anamoly 07-06-2010 08:12 PM

Z1 Vote submitted. I like the location and the crowd.

jadeb0x 07-06-2010 08:13 PM

i have a few suggestions for weekly things... one being the 1/2 price races at Andretti on Monday nights, we could eat at the Counter Burger just down the road as well...

could do the typical trivia nights at Hooters...

have a drink at Taco Mac, or Starbucks...

my type of meet isn't about going somewhere to get parts installed... i like the parking lot type of thing!

'10Anamoly 07-06-2010 08:21 PM

All good places, but not for meets really in my opinion. Taco Mac = a designated driver (i live beer), Andrettis is overpriced and I dont drink coffee at night. Its a nice cruise out there anyways, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I like the andretti's. im not a fan of hooters yo thei foood sucks! (i love to eat just fyi)

but not a mod meet everytime im just saying they are thoughts based on needs. like if 8 people are saying they got something they need to install, hey thts a mod meet.

and also we dont need to single out ONe thing to do, just keep the idea's coming and ya know then like for the next meet we'll have something to do.

jadeb0x 07-07-2010 05:51 AM

when the 350z first came out, i was living in orlando and my friend picked one up. they would have bi-weekly meets at some parking lot in the evening, and then just cruise around town. i wouldn't be surprised if to this day they still do something like this.

monday night at andretti's where the races are 1/2 price is still overpriced?

starbucks is a venue that is open late if we so happen to end up hanging around til the later hours... and they do serve non-caffeinated drinks.

hooters, wing house, fridays, taco mac... all the same to me... but again, places open late... and it is not required for you to drink alcohol to attend.

i'll go to brusters for some ice cream, or do what the local kids do and meet up at a sonic's somewhere.

point is, to have a central spot to meet so that word can spread and other owners may so happened to come across it, and if they can't make it the first time, then they could come the following week or the next. almost like how it's known that every first thursday of the month the varsity meet happens, every first sunday of the month is the cars and coffee meet at the avenues of roswell, every saturday at barrett parkway and on pleasant hill is the locals meet, every thursday at the BP on pleasant hill is the motorcycle meet, etc...

'10Anamoly 07-07-2010 07:09 AM

If everyone wants to meet at a place like that I'll swing by sometimes, but I'd prefer to meet somewhere where we can install stuff, chat about parts, check out shop cars, etc, versus just sitting at a Sonic or Starbucks for 5 hours. Besides, sooner or later you draw the attention of the police by gathering and those local kids run you out. Seen it too many times in the past that I cannot even count.

Again, we're talking a monthly meet, not daily, so the drive wont bother me a bit.

We need some input from someone besides myself and Jadebox about this, what does everyone else want to do?

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

I'm not too thrilled about hanging out outside of a restaurant. I'd be willing to stop by occasionally to say hello to the guys. My preference is to meet at a location where we're not going to draw negative attention, can learn more about our cars, and have to options to get things done on our cars if we choose to.

One of my main reason for suggesting Z1 is because they are open from 9:00am-6:00pm on Saturdays. This allows us to run our errands and gives us a larger window of time to gather.

Ryan@Forged 07-07-2010 07:41 AM

If you guys are open to a more central location I can look into setting up a local monthly meet here at Forged. Maybe something like a Saturday hangout around the shop, food/dinner, and then a drive down to the local Starbucks to hang out with other car enthusiasts? I'm open to suggestions but I am in agreement with the others that a monthly 370z meet needs to happen. This is a great way to learn more about your car and meet new people. Let me know how I can help. Hopefully you guys won't mind a GT-R attending ;)

jetguy 07-07-2010 07:44 AM

should be centrally located so not to exclude a certain quadrant of atlanta. what about braves parking lot. dont they auto cross there sometimes also?

xiven 07-07-2010 07:49 AM

I'm fine w/ 1/2 price Andretti's on Monday nights.

daisuke149 07-07-2010 08:52 AM

booo : ( I can't do monday nights lol.

but if thats the best thing for everyone go for it! lets try to make 90% people happy or something

but again as i stated, if we are going to meet at one place every month, i would really like a shop type location. I would not prefer a restaurant (same one) every month.

But like lets say august, hey lets meet at the whatnot restaurant somewhere.

september though, hey lets do a dave and busters thing, we can chat in the parking lot for a few hours and then go street race in video games!

btw! woo people are pitching in ideas i like it!

and @forged we never mind a gt-r being there. Of course.. you'll have to share it!!

'10Anamoly 07-07-2010 09:16 AM

I'm sticking to my previous suggestions, just not into the coffee shop meets/etc. Dave and Busters isnt too bad of an idea with the parking lot size. Forged is not central to anything really, its up off I-75 North on Cobb Parkway so I dont think its a good meet point. No offense intended to Forged but going up I-75 after work on a weekday is a no-go, the traffic is horrible on Cobb Parkway and on the highway headed north.

I'd show up sometimes and other times would head to a shop to hang out. Depends on how the crowd/location was for the monthly meets. Is there a D&B somewhere near the perimeter or middle of Atlanta?

Would it be unreasonable to do some meets at Starbucks or Dave Buster on top of the monthly meet? Why can we do both?

I think that's what Dai just said. Excuse me I'm a little slow this morning.

most normally though i think weekends would be better for the monthly idea anywho.

also i just thought about how we shouldnt have a parking lot idea for the monthly meet because we can have an exclusive monthly z meetthat shifts and does different things.

we can all also try to make the C&O meet each month and caravan there together as well. That can be our parking lot meet.

xiven 07-07-2010 09:23 AM

There is a D&B in Gwinnett. I think there is Malibu Grand Prix on that side of town too. Just throwing that out there.

Central location is relative. You have to realize there are guys coming from Kennesaw, Rome, Alpharetta, Gwinnett, maybe a few from South Atlanta, etc. With the majority of the guys coming from North Atlanta, and us being right off of the interstate I feel it is a central location. I was just offering the location up, if you guys don't want to do it here that's no big deal and no offense is taken :) We do happen to have a D&B within about 2 miles from here as well

'10Anamoly 07-07-2010 09:56 AM

Central is not relative, central Atlanta means central Atlanta. Local is what you are talking about (or Central to Forged). Local would be what is close to the group in Marietta, etc.

That being said, if mostly everyone lives in Marietta and that area and the meet is there, the non-local people who dont want to be in traffic forever probably wont come. I've been up I-75 numerous times on weekdays and it isnt worth it for any car meet honestly. I'd rather meet up somewhere where everybody drives a little to get there.

(Refer to my previous comment about enjoying the drive in my car, assuming its not in dead stop traffic)

Besides, the meets off Barrett at the Starbucks are a joke :roflpuke2:. If that is the idea about the monthly meet is to drive up I-75 in traffic and then head on to a Starbucks near there, I'll save my gas.

ATL_Red_G35 07-07-2010 09:57 AM

Well, the local G35 and 350z people do have our monthly meet.

Meet starts at 3pm on the 3rd Sunday of the month. We should go in to eat at 4pm at Taco Mac.

If you miss us on the parking deck, ask the Taco Mac hostess for the big car group and you should be sent to sit with us.

Address to use to get to the parking deck:
Taco Mac Perimeter
1211 Ashford Crossing
Atlanta, GA 30346
(678) 336-1381 phone

Directions:
--Get to I-285 and exit north onto Ashford Dunwoody (one exit east of GA 400)
--Go straight on Ashford Dunwwody past Perimeter Mall
--Turn left at Perimeter Center West just after passing Perimter Mall (there is a Bank of America on the right and a McDonalds on the left)
--Turn right onto Olde Perimeter Way (it is a shopping center)
--Taco Mac is on the left hand side of the lot, there is a parking deck after you pass the Taco Mac. (Ashford Crossing is actually a road within the shopping center)

However, I think we'll skip this month due to Forged Performance having their Open House on the Saturday before.

Well, by that viewpoint central would be downtown Atlanta. I doubt the majority here would want to hangout/park in downtown Atlanta. Seeing how most the owners seem to live north of Atlanta, it would make sense to meet somewhere north of Atlanta. If you have a meet in Gwinnett then the Kennesaw/Rome guys have to drive quite far. If you have a meet in Kennesaw, the Gwinnett/Alpharetta guys have to drive pretty far. Finding somewhere in the middle would be nice, which is what I meant by Central. I did not say central Atlanta, I said a central location. So yes, central is relative and is dependent on who is coming and where they are coming from. The general consensus seems to be that everyone wants to meet on the weekend, which eliminates the traffic factor. Somewhere around 285 between I75 and I85 or close to it would be perfect IMO for most. Since you seem to be against Forged we will remove that from the options. I simply offered it up because guys said they wanted a shop/part install option. I also agree the Starbucks on Barrett is a joke. Lets here your suggestions for places. I think D&B and Taco Mac are great suggestions. Perhaps something around the Perimeter/Dunwoody area is better for everyone?

see the easy solution to this is moving it around : )

lets face it, not 100% of people will come to every meet. Based on attendance we can rotate/move it around. I mean comeon were all smart here, a little adjustments / dyanmics won't hurt no one. : )

but appreciate the Forged guys offering their shop. Im sure sometime we'll do that.

Maybe we should take baby steps! lets work out August!

August might be a good time to do a slightly later meet, do some detailing, installing cus of the zcon.

Ryan@Forged 07-07-2010 10:58 AM

I think that's a good idea. We could always do a car wash meet and go from there to take pictures somewhere. Then drive to dinner. Just an idea ;)

John@Z1 07-07-2010 10:59 AM

If you want to do a meet here it's fine with us. We can do a monthly special on things that people would like to do to their 370Z(like Gen 3 intake install for $170 labor). We could include an upgrade dyno day to the guys that have changed parts out. Our shop is very interested in hearing what you guys want. That includes parts wanted, service wanted and ideas that other shops could care less about.

Also we can have a detail day. Bring the dude in the Genesis and I will give you the bay in front of my desk(you can fit 3 cars)for the day.

daisuke149 07-07-2010 11:05 AM

we can also turn events into meets btw.

things at road atlanta.
hell a drivein moviie theater! with like 25 z's parked across lol

btw Thanks to Z1 & Forged. We Atlanta folks are lucky to have these guys that are reknown and willing to help us out! lets take advantage of this (in the good way!)

'10Anamoly 07-07-2010 11:07 AM

I'm down with Z1 or if we want to meet between I-75 and I-85 thats good too. Should be half way for most people in either Gwinnett, Marietta, or elsewhere. Weekends are best too, to avoid traffic issues.

daisuke149 07-07-2010 11:18 AM

when im out of work i'll take a loot at some dates and start a poll or something more specific.

There is another thread going for detailing with Alex, (the Genesis dude) so we can ask him to come againf or the pre-zcon meet to prep cars.

again, we are all lucky to have alot of support here in atlanta, lets make sure to use it and support them as well.

John@Z1 07-07-2010 03:45 PM

I'm down for a cruise aswell. Gives me an excuse to take the 370Z out.

jadeb0x 07-07-2010 05:22 PM

just putting my opinion out there... but there seems to be a lot of favoritism in this regional forum... and it's a little "turn-offish". try to take it back a little and have meets like most other owner's clubs i've been apart of... never did i find it so difficult to just meet with other owners of the same car that i have. i thought it was pretty 'normal' to have parking lot meets in the evening and then get something to eat... at least that's how i was with nasioc.com, rs25.com, scionlife.com, nsxprime.com, etc...

i don't know what negativity is brought upon us if we have a meet at a restaurant or coffee shop... if we're paying customers and we're not doing any illegal burnouts in the parking lot... what's the problem?? i always go eat with my friends, and we all have nice cars, are we forced to leave an establishment just because we've gathered together at one spot? to me, the excuses to not have a 'parking lot' meet are ridiculous... look at the 350Z/G35 group... they've been doing it for yearss... i've known about their meet even before the 370Z came out... why not do the same for the 370Z/G37?

and yes, a central location is the perimeter for everyone... not 28 miles west of the perimeter.... that is unless you want to be central to Alabama owners as well...

as for parts and where i do my installs... i shop around and get the best deal... and i support those who help me out.

eddieconfetti 07-07-2010 06:04 PM

I think we should just do w.e. every month. go to forged one month. next go to z1. then d and b. then ..... Who cares if you gotta drive a little bit more than you want to. and traffic. i drive in traffic everyday so idc if im in traffic cause im used to it.

daisuke149 07-07-2010 06:52 PM

hey everyone just as an added note, yeah theres some favoratism etc. so lets all just discuss this openly.

I had an idea i wanted to share and see if people like. please give it some thought.

Lets pick a date. every 3rd saturday, every 2nd sunday or something.

We can meet up at around 10-am to 11am at perimeter. Perimeter is central. No one has to drive more than an hour (except Augusta guys sorry!) we can hang around for a bit inthe parking lot then go in grab som grub somewhere.

BUT thats not the entire thing. from there we can plan additional events. Such as going to Z1 or Forged. Going to D&B. Or just going for a cruise someplace, going to a place to grab good photos etc. Those who can or want to go for it can go, others can dip after the food etc.

I think the idea is a decent compromise and / or also flexible.

Now again, a monthly meet guys doesnt mean we cant organize a group to go to Caffeine and Octane, or other events that occur. Flexibility, again, is always good.

Any thoughts? addons just post them up.

EDIT: Also this way at the very least, the 370z's will get together and discuss our cars, changes, learn something new.

I've never undrstood why the meet up was there. The traffic and harsh parking rules and lack of parking. It also isn't a low rider friendly area. The best road quality is in N.W. Atl area. This is why random meeting places that change would be nice. I tried to get to this meet once and the lot was full of traffic, speed bumps, no parking signs and no empty spots. Of course it was later I found out it was held in a parking structure.

atl370z 07-07-2010 08:26 PM

so, where and when is the next meet?
