the group as a whole did runs each morning with set routes testing new roads in the area. so there are roads to drive they just are not the dragon. honestly, at this point with the increase in TN cops who's only goal is to generate revenue the dragon kinda lost it's spark for me. i guess when a trooper coming at you turns around and busts you completely lying about you speeding and them making up a speed since they didnt gun you leaves a sour taste.

moving on from that, you fly in and ship your car. this is actually 2 hours drive closer to charlotte douglas airport (CLT) vs fontana. so technically the trip is shorter since i assume you flew into that airport. i cannot remember for sure though.

I understand this was a test run so all is not clear. I don't have an issue with driving other roads for fun it just loses the magic of the Dragon being a world known destination.

Hell I am not against playing golf as I would have joined you. I love the game. I think you just lose some if the intimacy with not being held hostage and too many distractions.

As far as cost, transportation cost for vehicles will be up significantly as we generally have the car shipped to Atlanta or Nashville where we have a safe place to pick them up. The new venue adds a days drive for the transport and right now transport cost for big rig is more than double what it was pre pandemic. The other cost are nominal and just the cost to come party and hang out with you guys so that's not really an issue but $4k to bring my car is over the top.

ahhhh yea you guys shipped to ATL and hooked up with forged performance i think was the process.

wonder if there is a way just to send them to CLT airport and you all fly in to there instead. it's only 1.5 hours from the resort.

but yea i get it no dragon semi kills it for some people. if it was my first year or two i'd probably be bummed but after 7/8 years at zdayz the dragon is awesome but like i said the cop heat and over crowding kinda killed the allure for me personally.

as much as i liked being secluded, now having food options and can pack lighter with shopping options for food/booze is a nice change.

tony, nina, and myself hit a nice italian spot as expected lol i went alone and hit a seafood place and made them regret $35 all you can eat shellfish. i did damage there lol

i do see another benefit to having more entertainment options is that maybe it can lighten the load on settle and Michelle. they do so much every year i think they deserve a little less stress.

I think it is going to be thumbs-up for some and a joy kill for others. Many from the southern states that like to drive up from Florida, Georgia and surrounding states may opt out, but there may other from the Northern states that may decide to participate.

I'm from FL. I will be making the drive to the new location. This is gonna be a much nicer drive since we dont have to go thru or around atlanta, just up I-95. Fontana kinda put a bad taste in people's mouths. Gift card money grab was bad and then not honoring deposits. $400 deposit for a cabin and each of my 10 people in the cabin probably had $200-$400 gift cards each.

Also another people from my club had rats in their cabin. Basically no upgrades and the previous owners knew it was guaranteed money from us.

This will be my 7th year and honestly it was getting stale since the location sucked. Less and less vendors every year, and people hogging up reservations and not using them. New people are hesitant to go if they can't stay on site, but with the new location there is plenty of new spots to stay walking distance from main resort.

Are the above dates also correct for when ZdayZ is going to be held in Blowing Rock?

I thought it was the week before Memorial Day weekend. This is 2 weeks before...

:confused::confused::confused:

US 221 looks like it has potential and of course the Blue Ridge is right there... but that turns into a slow-moving dumpster fire at any time other than early dawn...

they found many routes and tested a few while we were there in a few weeks ago. i'm sure there's still good driving to be had.

no cop issues at the small event.

i did hear some people complained about noise of 1 condo. i believe it was people who the townhouse is their permanent residence and probably bitch anytime someone is visiting the one above and make any noise at all.

that is where i see a bit of a downfall since i am of the group who will have people over for bevs and conversation probably come drinking games and music as well lol

i had about 10 people over at mine and had no complainants even with people staying below me.
