Affected by Government Shutdown?

Without turning this into political commentary or a political discussion, will any of you be directly affected by the possible (likely) shutdown? I will likely be forced out of the office for the duration (although not 100% clear). I have lots of nervous employees.

Yeah, im in the same boat.

I WON'T start a political thread again(I get it), but will answer your question

We ALL should be concerned! If you're the President or part of the federal government(Republican or Democrat) than you have nothing to worry about.

Why don't you just "raise your personal debt ceiling"?

Sorry for that^^^^. I'm a foreign born American that truly loves this country & have much concern/worry that our country is losing it and turning into a joke:( Good luck to you.

Agree or disagree with Obamacare, one thing is for certain, you don't use a government shutdown as leverage to get what you want. It sets a terrible precedent for future actions....so is the upcoming debt ceiling issue. It's such an idiotic move for Republicans, namely Ted Cruz. Obamacare hasn't even been fully implemented yet, which means they don't have a measurable counterargument on why it doesn't work. In any case, right now they're basically saying, take away health care for millions or else hundreds of thousands will be unemployed for 3-4 weeks or more. That's a terrible gamble especially when they'll have no problem receiving their paychecks or medical coverage while all of this is going on.

"raise the debt ceiling" That's not a good thing. We can't do that when it comes to our personal financing. Also raising the debt ceiling, for those that don't understand, is being allowed to spend more money(again) than the Govt. makes/has. This will end soon because the reason we can do that with minimal hurt now is because the oil producers have a deal with us that ALL payments made by ALL countries is done with U.S. dollars. That is the biggest reason why the dollar still has strength. Unfortunately, the oil producers are seriously thinking (fact!) of dropping the U.S. dollar as the main payment for oil. When that happens, & it will soon, the dollar will fall & everything will jump in price. That's EVERYTHING! So soon most of us will become poor overnight. Not able to afford the things we take for granted today. We will owe/in debt for over 20 trillion dollars by next Pres. election 2016.

As far as Obama care, it will be another huge govt. bureaucracy paid by the WORKING TAX PAYERS that will support people with families or not, that have NOT worked or paid taxes a single time in their lives. Let's take the guy that spends his days selling drugs in the park. He has all the time in the world & will be able to go to YOUR doctor AHEAD of you. Also the Government TODAY already pays for FREE cab service to people that don't earn/report making a living/paying taxes.

That is why the projected costs especially for the young/younger tax payers is very high, and as you know project costs ALWAYS end up higher.

So my friend above :roflpuke2:

There's a lot of "Fox and Friends hysteria" in here. We're in a rough spot, but let's not go full Teatard and start telling everyone the sky is falling. You're right on the principle of the debt ceiling, but operationally we need the breathing room. It sucks, but this is what happens when we haven't had a budget for years.

As to the bolded part, who do you think is paying for those people right now when they go to the ER for all their health care needs? The ACA is not a good piece of legislature for many reasons, but it's not like it's adding a cost where there was none before.
