"Fighting against, Germany, Italy and Japan was an instant result of an attack on our own soil. We only decided to go in once we were hit. We refused to join the war before that point. When did Iraq attack us?"

Germany didnt attack us on our soil. Japan did, but that was after we were in the fight against germany, and we got in the fight against germany because of the instability they were causing in europe, as far as iraq goes they were an instability in the middle east. And yes this war is about oil, but we dont steal the oil. We are paying out of pocket to rebuild iraq and were paying for the oil. Now you say what are we gaining from this. well were getting the oil thats being refined and running your Z and we free the country from a tyrant. My former hair dresser was from Iraq and his father was killed by saddams people for no reason before he was able to escape to the U.S. Also my former co workers husband works as a translator for the marines in iraq where hes from. He got put before a firing squad and shot 11 times before being left for dead and he survived and is not helping us what in his own word are free his country. So dont get it twisted.

i agree, Our constitution is our back bone without it we would be no where. And to even consider rewriting it would be retarded, why you might ask because it was written during a time when values and beliefs where a huge part of what we are that has been lost in alot of ways another is because it was written during a time when there were alot of struggles and at the begining of a nation opposed to what we are now.

Here's my long-distance view on the subject, from across the ocean in England.

For eight years George W Bush came across as a stupid, swaggering, insensitive bully. He made many serious enemies across the entire planet and not many friends.

Barack Obama is making a big effort to change that perception - and in my opinion he's doing a really good job so far. He was clearly the only choice. He comes across as all the things that George W was not (and could never be) - intelligent, perceptive, aware and willing to listen. As President it must be hard to implement radical new ideas when the establishment is so entrenched, but I think Obama can do it if anyone can. I'd say he's definitely not all hype.

I wonder what some of you would be saying if Hillary Clinton was your President now (or John McCain, for that matter). Give the guy a chance.

I think you Americans should thank your Gods that you have someone of his calibre in the Whitehouse. Appreciate him - he's good for you.

Every one seems to forget, or mention, he's part white!

A good response to much of the above. : WikiAnswers - Why did the US become involved in World War 2

On topic its nice to see someone from outside this country express an opinion about Obama. 97 days he been in office, give the guy some breathing room. George W. Bush spent 1020 days on vacation. More than 1/3rd of his presidency. Bush set the record for most vacation time taken by president.

Lets just see what happens.

Forgive my ignorance, but I would like to hear your opinions, an across the water view, as to why Bush is considered an insensitive bully?

And on a side note, I'm not going to say names or call anyone out, but this is an open forum for intellectual discussion. This is not a place to 1) be clever and practice your stand up routine and 2) be insulting by setting up straw-man arguments and exaggerate others opinions to the point of ludicrous results. Please, be respectful, and try not to be abrasive.

Love how we nicely forget about the people responsible for leaving us in this situation in the first place... the elite few who made away with the loot... Law of conservation of wealth people... it does not disappear... just moves hands

People think the economy is bad now. But people forget that nothing is stoping these multibillion dollar corporations from taking their business over seas and say," Screw the US. "
Money would definitley change hands then.

Really, well they didn't rat out Osama bin Laden! Fjck **** Cheaney!

CantZme 04-22-2009 01:17 PM

problem is we dont make anything any more and the things that we do it cost us an eighth of the price to just get it from china. same quality. then if we make good quality stuff because of unions and others it costs a fortune where in other countries theyll make good quality stuff at a lesser price. its like getting hit with a double edge sword,f**ked either way.

CantZme 04-22-2009 01:18 PM

Osama bin laden is A) dead or B) in a place like syria or iran where he cant be touched without more people bitching about what were doing.

The primary driver for the recession is a very large amount of housing loan defaults. The banks got left holding the bag after paying off the builders when the borrowers could no longer pay them back. AIG and the like are getting killed on insuring these loans that went bad. Who are "the elite few who made off with the loot"?
