Pirelli World Challenge Sonoma Grand Prix Pics '14
After a very challenging season thus far, our race weekend at Sonoma went surprisingly well. The car has progressed tremendously over the course of the season and we still have some must-have items to address over the winter before next year's season starts, but we finally have a solid top 10 preforming 370z. That might sound easy to do but keep in mind as we are getting faster, so is the competition. Every year new records in both GT and GTS classes are set at almost every event, some by a full second or two. Needless to say, the competition is harder than ever and yet we had a successful weekend. While we didn't podium either round, the car was running great and Brian managed Sunoco Hard Charger awards for both races, meaning during the race he gained the most positions from start to finish of anyone in the race. We are still down a bit on power compared to the rest of the GTS field but Brian is a master at the wheel and it shows in the results. We finished the race on Sunday in a solid, well earned 10th place, a small victory for the team that either didn't start or didn't finish over half of the races this year due to issues with the car.
Brian as ecstatic with the results and we hope to carry this forward momentum into the 2015 season! Now on to the pictures of one of my favorite places I have ever been... Album: PWC Sonoma Grand Prix '14 - JPMcG Photography Fav's: 1. Brian was sporting a new helmet painted by CenSport and gloves from a new sponsor, Sparco, for this weekend 2. I joined the team in the pits for the first practice session to get some shots of them in action 3. Our practice the following morning was cut short by an issue with the fuel pump wiring but the car was turning in quick laps 4. Back out in the afternoon practice Friday, the bumper had popped loose but the new this year livery gleamed in the California sun 5. While the GT field watched, GTS class set their qualifying times Saturday morning. We could only muster P14 6. Deep blue skies dominate the sun drenched landscape at Race Sonoma 7. We altered the alignment after race one slightly and it turned out to be our best setup for the car yet in race two 8. The chaos of a Pirelli World Challenge standing start makes for a crazy first lap Thanks for looking and as always, there's plenty of other shots of all the rest of the field in the album so be sure to check them out! This is sadly our last round of PWC this year but next year is looking more and more promising. We hope to be back and towards the front of the pack next year!
