Testing different GoPro mount locations

Link is broken. :( Here it is:
Edit: changed to HD (480). |
Thanks!

Nice work. I was a little surprised at how steady all the different positions were.
What mount(s) are you using? Did you use the tower brace for the first sequence? For the outside shots, it may help to use a windscreen on the mic and/or set the level manually. Maybe not. |
I used the gopro suction cup.
first shot was also with the suction cup on the back glass. upside down mode on gopro on. hmmm i was wondering about the wind noise..... maybe I'll try the closed lid on the back next time to compare but when I have used it in the past on canoeing trips the audio was terrible. |
My guess is that wind noise is overloading the auto-level circuit. A windscreen should cut down on the noise a little and setting the level manually may bring the engine sound up enough to hear. Just setting the level manually may be good enough. Worth a try, IMNSHO.

My GoPro 3 Black has a setting to deal with the glare in your first location. (Inside the car) I forget what it's called, but the icon in the menu is a rectangle with a dot in the middle.

To embed a Youtube video, as I did above, go to the Advanced Editor (clicking the Post Reply button will take you there) and click on the Youtube icon in the toolbar. Paste just the video "ID" (the part after "v=") between the YOUTUBE tags that automagically appeared when you clicked the icon. |
:tup:got it. Thank you.

Avoid the black panel in between the side windows. It's not as stable as glass and if you've ever had it off for some reason, it isn't always as tight once it's re-installed. I've accidentally pulled it off when I was rushing to pull the suction mount off, but I've had my windshield replaced and the installer pulled that panel off which I didn't think was necessary.
