Default Basic video editing

I have been using Windows Live Movie maker to do some basic editing for my Go Pro videos but I would like to having something a little more powerful and be able to take still capture shots from what I film. I have been looking at Photoshop Lightroom 4 since it does both still and video editing but are there other choices that are just as capable? I don't want to spend much more then the cost of Photoshop.

I prefer Adobe Premiere for video editing but it can have a bit of a learning curve and doesn't really get used to its full advantage without various other programs in the creative suite ie Photoshop, After Effects, etc.

You may want to look at Sony Vegas....its relatively inexpensive yet easy to use and fairly powerful.

Hope this helps a bit.

I am downloading the 30 day free trial for Lightroom but I will check out Sony Vegas. Thanks.
