edit: jeremy replied, yes it was his 70-200 f/2.8
Sound advice.

Did I call that on the lens or what!

thanks guys! yup that's the 135 you linked to. i bought it barely used for $900. there's a "Camera Gear" facebook group. it's like craigslist for pro's and semi-pro's. check it out. i'm not sure what lens was used for that shot but i know jeremy and i know he has a 70-200 f/2.8 so i'd imagine that's probably the case there. he's a friend on facebook so i asked him, i'll see what he replies...

the owner ordered a 20x30" print of that one today... as did i

I'm not sure if that one is the same 135. The bokeh doesn't look as creamy, it looks like maybe if it was taken with that same 135mm that it was over sharpened in post, but that's just IMO, still an awesome shot.

Edit: didn't see your last post about it being the 70-200mm

Stormy, when getting a large format printed, do you typically have the finished hi-res at 300dpi?

i've seen a comparison of 80, 120 and 300 dpi prints of the same picture and while you can definitely see a difference between 80 and 120, especially on larger prints, the difference between 120 and 300 dpi is relatively nil. i upload my pics full res to my smugmug and order them from there. i think they print ~100dpi

yea there is a distinct difference between f/2 and f/2.8. here's a shot with my 200mm prime @ f/2.8:

it has a similar look and DoF despite the higher f-stop due to the longer zoom. so basically it's the same DoF w/ more compression. the lens even looks the same and uses the same filter size lol

Just bought the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G to compliment my 50mm f/1.8D. What a great little lens. I think I found my new favorite.

I thought I posted reply but don't see it. The Maine harbor with red rowboat was shot with a very old Asahi Pentax Spotmatic with a Vivitar 35mm lens which I had bought in Vietnam in 1967. High Speed Ektachrome slide film, scanned. The baby robins were shot with a Sony DSC-F828. Now using a Canon 40D I got couple years ago, several lenses, some left over from an old Canon EOS 100 I used for several years. The girl off the beach at La Jolla was shot with a 100-300 EF US Canon zoom.

I much appreciate the kind words, coming from a pro.
