decided to go with the Nikon D5100 but
Finally i decided to buy a DSLR!! i wanted to buy a digital camera but since i can add little bit more money and get a decent DSLR... why not!!
so, I've been browsing for the right camera for the right budget, and finally i compared the Canon 600D with the Nikon D5100 and i guess the Nikon wins except in HD Videos... which i wont use the camera for Videos that much! The canon Made in Japan and the Nikon made in Thailand, do this affect the life of the camera? any body using Made in Thailand Nikons? is that a reason that will make u change ur mind? or it doesn't matter? |
my D3100 is from Thailand. i dont like thai food at all, but their camera seems ok.
it's not like the craftmanship looks like crap or anything. i guess the one thing i dont like about the D3100 is the lens... not as sharp as prime. but that was expected. |
get a prime lens
|
yeah, you will notice the biggest improvement by using good quality glass. I wouldn't worry about it being made in thailand.
|
been shooting my made in thailand d3100 with no issues
|
Thanx all :tiphat:
i'll go ahead with the 5100. I'll do the purchase from Amazon, if any body know where to get lower price. plz tell me. |
maybe check B&H Photo? they tend to have decent prices.

amazon package is a great starter kit. get used to the camera and its capabilities with the kit lens, then you start looking for lenses.

Which package - a lot of times the accessories included aren't worth the extra cost, just padding for the dealer.

I thought of this package... Amazon.com: Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm G VR DX AF-S Zoom Lens with 16GB Card + .45x Wide Angle & 2x Telephoto Lenses + Remote + Filter + Tripod + Accessory Kit: Electronics what do you think? |

Looks alright, The "lenses" in it are garbage, The cleaning kit is meh... the tripod will work for now since your camera won't weigh much. Bag is probably alright... and depending on the speed of the SD card it seems good. Couldn't piece stuff together for the price of the kit... So yea, its pretty good. |
IF i will buy the memory card and the bag alone, they will cost more than the offer in the package! so its like am getting those lenses with stand for free
i wont use any lenses in the beginning since i dont have experience yet, thanx for the comment |

Well, those aren't even really lenses that come with it. They are just gimmicky filters that attach to the end of your lens to either magnify it or make it seem more like a wide angle. They are cheap and probably should just be used as paper weights to be honest. The 18-55 is the only actual lens that comes with the kit. |
I think you would be better off getting the D5100+18-55 and the Transcend w/card reader (if you don't have one) for about $779.
Actually you should get two cards for backup and convenience. If your budget is limited, get two class 6 cards, otherwise get some UHS cards for fast transfer to your PC. |

about UHS or two class 6 cards!! i dont know what does that mean :icon14: |
if you haven't gotten one already, it's also a good idea to have a backup battery. they're cheap and just keep it charged just in case.
photograhy's like you only get one chance on many things. would suck if your battery died. :icon17: |

Eh, spare battery could honestly wait until you get your feet wet. I have actually never had a camera go dead on me because of the battery, but if you are doing something extremely important... then it is a good idea. |
UHS = fast -> expensive, important for RAW
Class 6 = not as fast -> cheaper, but slower transferring to PC and with RAW but can still do video Slower than class 6 = too cheap for video And I was suggesting getting a stand alone card reader and just body+lens instead of wasting (some) money on kits since most of the stuff in them really is worthless |
