I think you would be better off getting the D5100+18-55 and the Transcend w/card reader (if you don't have one) for about $779.
Actually you should get two cards for backup and convenience. If your budget is limited, get two class 6 cards, otherwise get some UHS cards for fast transfer to your PC. |

about UHS or two class 6 cards!! i dont know what does that mean :icon14: |
if you haven't gotten one already, it's also a good idea to have a backup battery. they're cheap and just keep it charged just in case.
photograhy's like you only get one chance on many things. would suck if your battery died. :icon17: |

Eh, spare battery could honestly wait until you get your feet wet. I have actually never had a camera go dead on me because of the battery, but if you are doing something extremely important... then it is a good idea. |
UHS = fast -> expensive, important for RAW
Class 6 = not as fast -> cheaper, but slower transferring to PC and with RAW but can still do video Slower than class 6 = too cheap for video And I was suggesting getting a stand alone card reader and just body+lens instead of wasting (some) money on kits since most of the stuff in them really is worthless |
