I was shooting with a 28 - 135 at about 100 mm.
Yes, I am playing around today with high shutter speeds. These were taken at 1/3200th. The friggin' feeder sits under an overhang and is in the shade.

Nice onzedge! Fast enough to catch a humingbirds wings
So i brought the sony back and got a Cannon T3i with the 18-55 kit lens, and 50mm cannon lens. Im not sure if the guy just sold me on something i dont need (50mm) but after looking at my photobucket said it would be good for the types of shots i was taking. Anyways, seems my camera just trippled in size But it will be a much more satisfying experience when it comes image quality.

I have yet to have the opportunity to shoot hummingbirds. Looks good. With bright background, I may try to fill flash to capture the underside of the body/wings. You could probably back the shutter speed back off a little that way too.
Looking good! You guys are inspiring me to do a little more shooting for me. We have been so busy with clients that I haven't taken much for myself. I just bought a portalbe generator so I can take my lighting stuff on location and set up some night time car shots. Hope to put something up for you guy to critique soon. In the mean time, here is one of my favorite shots as of late. Taken at the June Cars and Coffee Williamsburg....

Beach- on your car pict above, how did you blowout the background? is that blurred by software? cause it looks like you use like f/8-10 yet the background is nicely blown out and out of focus. i wants to do that too.
