If its just coloring and filters/effects you want to do, lightroom is just fine for that, and much less of a system hog than photoshop. If you want to combine photos, use masks, use text, etc., then Photoshop is the way to go. Lightroom has a more user friendly interface, where as Photoshop takes more getting used to and understanding what all the different layer settings/blend modes/effects do. Just a tip, either way you go, if you want to mess around in post afterward, do yourself a favor and shoot RAW. You'll have much better file flexibility and be able to change more without losing significant amounts of file data like when working with JPEG. Hope this helps!

I brought up the image based on your link, which took a couple of clicks to get to the full image. I then copied the image address from that page (actually right-clicked the image (on a Mac) and selected "copy image address".

That's the address that I inserted inside of the IMG suffix and prefix.

Well hello everyone! It's been a while since I was on the forum, I've been busy and I'm an Admin for my Z Club here in Florida so I never have time to get on here anymore. Miss all you little bastards though I'm still doing photography, might be pulling the trigger on a D750 body soon

Very nice! I shoot Nikon too(D750). You will love the D750. Just be aware of the flare issue. But those are only in the early batches.

Yeah I've read about that, but like you said it's the first batches they made. I should be ok, if not I'll just have to send it in.

On a seperate note I could use some suggestions on a good all around versatile lens to pair with the body. Right now I have the stock 18-55 lens and the 35mm 1.8 prime which is what I shoot most with. I'll be doing automotive shoots and weddings on the side. Any thoughts? I wanna go with better (read proffesional) gear.

My 3 lens kit for events and portraits is:
17~35 f2.8 [awesome lens ! super sharp wide open]
24~70 f2.8 [on the camera most of the time -great all purpose lens but the 17~35 is the better choice for critical wide shots]
70~200 f2.8 [great wide open when you need to soften the background]
My 1 lens 'street sweeper' is the 24~120 f4.0 [great PJ lens]

I shoot prime. I love my 24mm 1.4g and 85mm 1.4g. They both super sharp and fast. Pair with the D750's most advanced auto focus system to date, they are amazing at night. I literally can hand hold the camera and shoot under the moon light with low iso. Both lenses are excellent for wedding and portrait. The 85mm f1.4 is bokehlicious! The 24mm f1.4 is sharp corner to corner. Great for landscape too. The only complaint I have on my 24mm is the distortion. But most wide angle lenses have that problem. It can be easily fixed in the post editing.

With the lenses you have I would definitely recommend the 85mm f1.4. Either D or G. They both awesome. Another lens I would consider is the 70-200mm f2.8 VR II. I read good review on it. But 85mm beats the 70-200mm on image quality at 85mm f2.8.

I haven't had much chance to shoot with the 85mm yet as I just got it. But here are some work from my buddy's 85mm 1.4D paired with his D600.

Ok, yeah... need that in my life lol. Thanks for the responses guys, I know I can always count on yall for some good info. I definitely don't want to be that guy that totes around like 23 lenses, I'll check these out and see what's what. I'm getting a pixel stick for christmas, give me a week or so and I'll try to post up some of the stuff I do with that. I love night shots and light painting and this should take it to a whole new level, I'm really excited about it.

Hey Huck [Forza] ! Great shots !! Love the perspective and the bokeh !!!

Subjects like this are perfect for primes ... you have the time to set up and walk around and compose without pressure or time constraints.

yikes !!! 23 lenses is a little over the top ..::..
But ... I'll take along all my 'good stuff' on a serious all day or all week shoot.
I'll pack in my big case with all of my necessary accessories and then have a working 'soft shoulder pouch' that can hold 3 lenses but I only use 2.
The 3rd lens is on the camera, and depending on the subject I'm shooting I'll select the other 2 as needed.
I'll leave the big case in the car...still within easy reach.
Once shooting I'll take the shoulder pouch off and leave it close by when I need to become more mobile.

Always prepared and almost never a missed a shot.
Sometimes you just need to be flexible and able to adapt.

I used to shoot all prime lenses back in the days of film and they were noticeably superior to the zooms.
Today's zooms perform far and above the zooms of yesteryear.
I have/had the 14mm prime and the 14mm~24mm Nikkors ...
You couldn't tell the difference even at 400%.
Other zooms have also held up extremely well in comparison to the primes.
The major differences in my opinion is the barrel or pincushion distortions associated with the zooms.
Primes don't have to compromise here.
With todays lens correction software though the gap has closed considerably.

For weddings and events the convenience of zooms is a huge time and effort saver.
You'll also get more referrals, compliments, and you won't sweat thru your shirt struggling through those lens changes.
Brides and Grooms don't have much patience for delays in the action especially when it's cocktail and party time.
After all, they are snapshot oriented and won't appreciate the difference between zooms and primes as far as the technicals go.
But they will remember the fumbling photographer and those missed shots for sure.

I've retired from shooting events and now just do my fine art thing ..::..
I still do have a number of primes that I use including the 16 FF Fisheye,
50 f1.4, 60 f2.8 Macro, 105 f2.8 Macro, 105 f2.0 DeFocus, 180 f2.8, and 300 f4.[which is more convenient but less versatile than my 200~400 f4 zoom]
Don't carry them all at once ...

All depends on the final objective.
