I think I'm about to get a T3i body. I've been thinking of starting with a macro this time since I take a lot of nature shots. Anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced option?

Anything with a "macro" label ends up being pretty pricey from what I've seen. I don't know much about them tho so it'd be hard for me to give advice on them. I know a lot of people like the 180mm macro lens.

I suggest buying a set of extension tubes if you want to experiment before going big with pricey macro lens. A set usually run about $100 and let's you focus up close with the lenses you have. You'll need a sturdy tripod, good light source and a remote trigger.

whenever I see a rig shot of a car with wheels like that, I wish there was an outtake like this:

Looking good! You guys are inspiring me to do a little more shooting for me. We have been so busy with clients that I haven't taken much for myself. I just bought a portalbe generator so I can take my lighting stuff on location and set up some night time car shots. Hope to put something up for you guy to critique soon.

In the mean time, here is one of my favorite shots as of late. Taken at the June Cars and Coffee Williamsburg....

Just another reason to love Williamsburg!

Impromptu pictures of bubbles are hard to accomplish when you have to do it on your own.

Further justification for a macro lens.
