The 7D is mostly metal construction, shoots a little faster than the 60D -- the big factor was how it fits in my hand. The 5D I also considered, but could not justify in my head the cost.

Nikons are definitely sweet and I believe Nikon and Canon to be equal overall. I still have a Nikon F 35mm and it is a tank. The D 7000 is a camera that every raves about. I just went Canon due to lots of brand experience.
