Beach- on your car pict above, how did you blowout the background? is that blurred by software? cause it looks like you use like f/8-10 yet the background is nicely blown out and out of focus. i wants to do that too. :)

ken- shallow DOF, depth of field. Open aperature, small number, think dialated pupil. :) i try never to have to replicate DOF with software. It's difficult (for me) to make look natural.

Onzedge- I love my 50mm f1.8! It is a blast to shoot at dusk. I will post a couple of shots after I get home from dinner.

Nick -- the last time I saw a squirrel that close up it had crosshairs on it.

BeachZTT 08-01-2011 06:25 PM

Nick- love the hawk shots. We had a couple in my neighborhood and never did get a shot of them. Had some great "branch" and "leaves" shots though. :)

onzedge- niiiiice purchase! You are going to have fun with that .

Here is a shot with a 50mm f1.8 hand held at around 9:30 at night... dont' know what settings because I can't find the original image! No edits other than a crop.

Nice shot, beach. Great, just great. Another lens I am now going to convince myself I need.

BeachZTT 08-01-2011 06:44 PM

Thanks! Good thing is that you can pick one of those up for almost nothing. I think I payed just over $100 for it. It's plastic but good glass. Lotta fun for your buck with that one. The f1.4 is more than twice the price.

Nick911sc 08-01-2011 06:48 PM

Thanks everyone!

Beach great shot there!

Spec Jay 08-01-2011 06:56 PM

you cant go with with the nifty 50. for the price theres really not much that can match it.

Love those shots!

Canon 50D or Nikon D50? Both are great bodies!

I still have my D50! Love it. Some of my favorites shots I have ever taken were with that camera. Here is a shot from my 50 with a $139 Sigma lens...
