Sounds cool, Nitex. Honestly, I think the 50mm is redundant unless is has a wide aperature which would make it useful for low light or fast shutter speeds. The T3i is a solid choice.

Onzedge its a cannon ER 50mm f/1.8 lens. Would that be a wide aperature lens? i think i may return it unless its better for taking fast shots.

definitely yes(?) :) i'd keep that for doing portraits and super closeup shots of flies too. :D

Is it an "EF"? Probably. 1.8 is not super fast, but faster than many lenses. It will be faster (more useful in low light) than your zoom.

I ordered this yesterday:

Canon U.S.A. : Professional Imaging Products : EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

Darned digital photography is going to cost as much as a Z.

I love that lens... I wish I could justify making the purchase. Wildlife Photography is a big thing for me and right now just using a 55-250mm to get away with it. Luckily the crop factor on my camera helps..

Here are 2 of my 55-250mm shots

Nick -- those are quite nice.

Nick911sc 08-01-2011 03:10 PM

Thanks!

Those were both actually in my backyard

onzedge 08-01-2011 03:13 PM

We have some nesting falcons or hawks -- hard for me to say exactly which yet, but they are noisy and active. They have been hanging around our backyard in the trees and I hope they are still there when the lens shows up.
