Looks like you know what to do pretty well enough, so WB on any RAW file shouldn't be a problem for you. Like I said, to get the above results, it's going to take PS. But for JPEG batching, you can run an action to color correct the images. The idea would be to get the shots right out of the camera and not have to correct, which is what you were wanting to do. That'll just involve doing my previously mentioned steps, then you should be fine.

I just perused through your Flickr, I don't see any WB issues at all, good work!

LunaZ, I want some lights to light up the subject from the front when the main light source is behind, like a sunset shot or something.

It depends on what you want to do Huck. Are you going to be doing portraiture, outdoors, indoors, etc. Off camera lighting should come later if you don't have a good lens, such as a 50mm or 85mm prime, IMO. Learning proper lighting techniques is a honed craft that takes a long time, and I feel like unless you've pretty much mastered using ambient light, you should get a good prime lens and focus on learning depth of field and naturally lighting your subject. For the most part, and short of pros, most people will produce much better work with natural light than with flashes. Then take the plunge into off cam lighting when the time is right.

True that. I just bought the lens, 35mm 1.8g Nikon. It gets here Saturday and I'll start playing with that.
I'm into mostly car and nighttime photography, but I wanna start doing outside portraits and stuff. We'll see how it goes

Cool beans. If you get into doing portraits, snag a different lens, like the ones I mentioned before, cuz a wider lens like the 35mm will distort faces. But thats a great lens for car work!

I have the 50mm 1.8g and I love using this lens for portraits and even as a walk around lens on my D7k. At wide open, even on a sunny day, it takes amazing shots and really nice bokeh. A bit cumbersome for group shots on a crop sensor body, but it's perfect for a lot of situations. The distortion is very minimal and the focal length being close to what your eye sees is very intuitive when it comes to framing a shot. I also have the 85mm, but sadly, I don't use it as much as I'd like to. I got it mainly because my next camera will be full frame.

I've moved almost entirely toward the commercial look and even some conceptual photography, so most of the focal ranges I'm using are either really wide or long. IDK if you guys know this or not, but the image compression of the 35-55ish focal range is about the same as what the human eye sees, so it creates a very true to life image. A lot of people like this range.

That's why I went with the 35mm first, I have a DX so with sensor crop it's right around 50mm true.

Yeah full frame is on my list. The D5100 is actually my wife's, I got it for her for a Christmas present but she hardly ever uses it and doesn't even know how to change aperture or iso lol. She just likes to leave it on auto.
