Hey sorry to bump a old thread..

My dad just gave me his nikon D70 digital slr that he bought and know nothing about it.. I don't know anything about cameras either.. but I want to learn.. is this a good beginners camera? trying to read through the manual this is hard and confusing as crap.

Yep, loved the cigars. Nice color. Depth of field perfectly isolated your subject. The whole scene sort of tells a story. Three guys sitting on the balcony sharing a cigar, telling stories like guys do. Maybe a wedding party or the party the night before and the guys are getting together one last time.

For me a great picture tells a story or hints at something that just happened or is about to happen. You captured that feeling. I need to remember that advice when I compose my own shots.

just got me a canon EOS 70D. lookin forward to figuring out all the features and taking shots.
