Can anyone guess how long an 1800 Watt hair dryer can run on a PCB Vagabond Mini?

That's about right... but not because the Vagabond runs out of juice.
There's not enough power for the hair dryer, and the fan doesn't spin at high speed which causes the heating coil to overheat.

The way I was taught was to think of electric current as a liquid (the water analogy). Voltage is water pressure, amps is the flow rate and ohms the resistance/pipe size.

I'd be carefull plugging a hair dryer though, since units like that usually have a maximum continuous output. I'm guessing around 120 watts.

Yeah, probably not the best idea.
I wanted to discharge the battery fully so I could give it a full charge before going out today.
I found a lamp to plug it into.

We do. We need to keep the Canon engineers on their toes!

Canon Singapore has a good app but the dof calc is buried: CanonSGLens
I use truedof-intro

make sure you include the sensor size for angle of view calculations.

Default 200-400f4

just got back from Alaska, shot the 200-400 and 28-300. I usually shoot primes but on this trip I didn't want to hike with 50 pounds of lenses! No car pics but the scenery is stunning!

Careful. Sigma has decent glass but terrible durability. Not worth the savings in my opinion. I know of newspaper guys who have had the lens break...like done broken...within 6 months.

so... i should get a warranty?

also, just bought a canon 50 f/1.4 off a friend, should be here next week. and decided to pounce on a good deal on a GoPro Hero3 Black Edition another friend was selling here locally. $300 for the camera, suction cup mount and 64gb card... all used once.

I'm on a saxophone player's forum called Sax on the Web. They have same kind of arguments. Who cares if your Selmer tenor sax looks better than my Yanagisawa. It's all about how it sounds. Same thing with lenses. It's all about image quality. Geez...you kids!
