nice outcome
I shoot with a T1i myself, so welcome to the canon family :) |
Im very pleased with canon. For the money, it seems like nothing Nikon makes can touch this T2i, especially at 18mp's, it makes HD wallpaper's with ease!
What do you guys use to host your pics? I use photobucket and have been for a while, but it kills quality... |
awesome photos! great job!
|
nice photos, i'm a nikon shooter (d90), but i think in the future (1-2yrs) when i make the jump to full frame, its going to be the canon 5d mkII. just a killer camera.
i use flickr. its free, but you can pay $25 a year to go Pro, which IMO is entirely worth it. 2 bucks a month for unlimited, fast, fantastic hosting. to me its a no brainer. |

I shoot with a Nikon (D90) and its more camera than I need. I couldn't imagine switching at this point since I've invested so much in lenses and flashes already. I tried the T2i when I was buying the D90. Great image quality, but I just couldn't get use to the controls and ergonomics. These two were pretty close, but I liked the Nikon image processing a little better. Using multiple speedlight flashes is so much easier on the Nikons also. Not a fanboy or anything, on the contrary, I think you can't lose with either one.:tiphat: |

Awesome! I love the high angles shots. I work for Canon in professional products. Nice to see such use of consumer cameras. You have an excellent eye.

nice shots dude!! really digging the first couple especially. keep it up and enjoy! 7D's been good to me so far, picking up a 5D2 also at the beginning of next year (yay tax rebate!) so i'll have a great bag for all circumstances

yeah, me too, ive gotta ditch this stock lens. i loved my 70-300 on my d40, gotta get something similar for this one now.
|
Get the 70-200f2.8 IS II. Much better lens than the old IS or the non IS. Better optics, mush better construction and IS. Far superior lens. You want to really have fun with your auto shots, get the 90TSE. Selective focus is the BOMB! I love shooting with the 200f2. Narrow dof (keep the background blurred) and sick sharp.
|
those are all baller status lenses tho. i'm just a poor working boy trying to make a living :P
|
same here...
|
solutions:
The old 70-200f4L used. Very sharp and not too expensive The old 200f1.8L Scary sharp but very heavy. Sleepers: 135f2L, 200f2.8L and the 50f1.4 is also a great lens. The 50f1.4 is a fantastic short portrait lens on a 1.6x sensor (equivalent to 80mm on a full frame camera) I love the 200: Catherine.jpg photo - David Sparer photos at pbase.com |
The 100f2 is a good sharp lens too
|
Here is a great Canon resource place, can learn a lot of things, White it hard to shoot especially during gray skies, but at night it pops...
Here is a very tell you how it is Canon forum Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin They also have a lot of lens reviews. I dont run a Rebel, I am a fan of the 50D, and looking the get a Full Frame 5DmkII Welcome to the Canon family! |

I'd like to get the 50 f/1.4 and the 70-200 f/4 L. This would suit my style I think, and not drain the bank too bad.
|
Nice photoshoot
I'm sat here waiting for a delivery right now... My new Canon XSi is on it's way WooHoo. |

What do you think of the "Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens"?
|
For up close shots of wheels, emblems, interior shots, what would the best choice of lens be, a zoom or full frame, macro lens? I definitely want a 70-200, but I also would like a dedicated lense for the shots I mentioned before. What would you recommend that won't break the bank?

Not sure I can justify ~$600 on the 70-200mm yet LOL. I'm just looking for a quality 2nd lens that I can zoom with. My Canon XSi came with a 18-55mm |
same here, just not in the position to lay out that much.
|
nice shots t2i ftw lol.
|
yeah, pretty damn good bang 4 the buck!

The T2i uses the new 18MP sensor from the 7D, it has vastly decreased banding noise at high ISO, and other minor improvements.

Here are the 90TSE (tilt/shift) shots. The car is dirty, washed it this evening (I intend to do some beauty shots tomorrow morning) and the images have only been cropped and sized in photoshop. All shots were taken with a Canon 5D Mark II, EF90f2.8TSE lens at f2.8 In the first 5 images note how the DOF changes. I didn't change camera position (didn't use a tripod, these were down and dirty) all I did was change the "tilt" of the lens. Everything is sharp (tilt down) http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg This is how a standard lens would look (no tilt) http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg The top of the engine is very soft (lens tilted up) http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg Only the front of the car is sharp ("tilt" or really it is a swing left) http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg ONly the side of the car is sharp ("tilt" or swing right) http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg In the following image note that you can see my reflection in the fender lip, no adjustment on the lens so it performed like a regular lens. I shot straight on. http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg On this image I moved the camera to the left and adjusted the shift so I had about the same framing but my reflection is gone. The perspective didn't change. http://www.the370z.com/members/dspho...90tse-5dii.jpg |

Optical distortion (also called pin cushion or barrel distortion) will make straight lines at the edge of the frame appear curved. Chromatic abberation will put a faint colored edge (usually purple, red or green) at edged where there is a lot of contrast. For instance, a dark car against the bright sky. In general use this is a good lens but not for professional use. |
wow the difference in those shots is crazy! i still dont know much at all about tilt lenses or how they work.
thanks for the info on the efs 55-200. I may look to get a better lens then when I get this weekend business going, soon I hope. |
I was a commercial shooter and director in NY before I took the Canon gig. Some business advise: once you have a decent portfolio do not shoot for free. It destroys everyones ability to make a living in auto shooting.
Check out Gil Smith's site. He is a friend of mine and a great car shooter |
