I don't know what his reason is, but for me I'm autocrossing in SCCA street class which requires stock VLSD, and they lose their viscosity (and effectiveness) over time.

So, if anyone comes poking around here and he's already found one, I need one too so shoot me a PM. Just need the VLSD though, not the whole rear end. The fewer miles the better.

thanks for the bump...

I'm looking to upgrade my 3.5FD VLSD rear end to the 370Z 3.7FD VLSD since it's a straight swap would be a nice upgrade with no headaches of opening the diff and setting the gears which time after time has shown to be a headache...

That's too bad considering what a POS it is and how tracking just overheats it due to zero cooling, burns it right out. So I hope the purses are good and you can just keep buying them over and over..

Why would you not inspect it considering how quickly they wear out.. how will you know what you're getting? :ugh2:

Yep...

That's more or less the plan.

:icon18: LMFAO

Why don't you run a time attack instead?

*shrug* Autocrossing is what I do, and it's a great group of people. I actually enjoy the challenge of driving cars fast in stock form.

I'll probably build it for STR/STU next year, which has allowances for suspension bits and aftermarket LSDs, amongst other things.

I will change fluids that's all that would be needed seeing its OEM.

Bump I think you missed my point, the fact that it's OEM is not always a good thing with these cars Bump

Examples
OEM oil cooling which was nonexistent, then inadequate
OEM stereo *shrug*
OEM fuel system don't even get me started with onramps
OEM VLSD which wears out and is very quickly an open diff
OEM paint *shudder*

this list could go on all night. They shortcutted so many details to get the car down to a sellable price in a recession that it is unacceptable.

you're doing a lot of labor, do it right. don't just throw some guy's diff in, the gears were worn in on a different car, will never match up. Get the pumpkin, some fresh gears. Bump.

Kingbaby 01-25-2014 02:58 AM

That's what I'm after the whole pumpkin...haven't seen diffs failing at the rate that buying a low mileage(30-50k) pumpkin would be a negative!

Seen fully built rear ends go bad...don't have the coin for an expensive paper weight...I can link a couple failed 4.08 pumpkins going to poop

I live in Hawaii the level of knowledge is in the shittier when it comes to what you might think is a simple job!

Bump

Oh hey. I'll have one of these for sale in about a month and a half. $400 and it's yours. Just a shade less than 11k miles on it from my 2012 nismo. Replacing it with a quaife LSD. Let me know if you're interested. Literally just waiting until the salt is off of the roads to take it up to Hill's

Kingbaby 01-27-2014 09:46 PM

Deal....just put mines up for sale...if possible can you inquire on the shipping to 96818.

If shipping is too much I would like to low ball you or split shipping or something like that!
