sorry to jump in, i'm not really interested in the sale, just interested, but judging by the plastic wrapping, you've replaced your vlsd with a quaife. how is that working out? is it a good upgrade?

For the street the stock VLSD in good condition (like this one) does an excellent job. If you are not going to the track regularly then an aftermarket LSD probably isn't worth it.

ok, this whole time i was just planning to go with the quaife but not being a hardcore track person, i think i'd be an ideal person for this. but, i have a 2012 base, will your vlsd just swap out with my open diff?
for $150 i'm totally willing to try this. |

I don't know exactly what parts would be needed. This Quaife was supposed to be a drop in for the VLSD but my installer had to cut one of the stub axles. Apparently at some point Nissan changed the stub axle length so you may or may not need a stub axle(s). Even new stub axles aren't expensive.

You wold also need to purchase the driver side VLSD shaft from Nissan. The base Open diff has matching axle shafts, same length and all. The VLSD has a shorter side and a longer side. You would need to purchase the shorter side. As for cutting the stub shaft, I believe that is normal too for the factory VLSD guys. I installed a Quaife into my '12 base model also and as long as you purchase the ones for the base model, i had to do no extra modifications for it to drop in. The Quaife is fully street friendly though. Quietest of all and no harsh engagement what so ever. I honestly cant tell a difference from open diff and the Quaife as far as driveability and noise. Performance wise, one of the best upgrades available for a base model.

So it sounds like you could just cut one side or buy the shorter stub axle to put in this OEM VLSD in a base. This is how much my installer cut off my stub axle.

no to instal the oem vlsd you need to have one short stub shaft(same as base) and one vlsd long stub shaft
Edit: and for any aftermarket diff designed to replace the lsd you need one short shaft and one cut down long shaft(cannot be another base stub as the retaining clip is in a different spot) There is no exception to this it is the rule. If you get an aftermarket lsd design as a base replacement then you need to of the base stubs

So it looks like a new long stub axle a non-sport would need to install this is $140ish new or starting at about $40 used on eBay.
