K&N filters on an R2C intake? R2C specializes in high quality filters (one of several reasons I chose them). Those look like the R2C dry filters.

"K&N pre filters" totally different thing bud- the r2c filters are on them.

Thanks, I was really wondering :tiphat:

I assume that's why they look so dark? They pre-filter is over the R2C filter?

Yes- the exact wording k&n uses is like pre charger filter cover. It supposedly filters out the grit before it even hits the filter so it's only cold air going in. It's just a thing cloth like wrap on the actual filter.

Rubber gourmet seems to be coming off, if you have an invoice they will replace them for free.

I think I'll look into these, thanks :tiphat: There is plenty of debris that gets stuck in the filters and is hard to blow out even with air compressor. I typically have to wash them completely (simple green solution) to get that stuff out.

I have them, they're GREAT, and according to them it extends filter cleaning intervals by double, so 100k miles between cleaning

honestly, if i were you guys, i would remove that pre-filter off the filter and mount it on the car inlet side. (remove bumper, place it on the inlet)

the R2C filters are extremely efficient and having some layer over it defeats the purpose of having the R2C filters. R2C specifically benchmark K&N and explain R2C is better.

just a thought. :)

GLWS!

Why are you selling it??
how does this sound?

Guys who has this,,, how does this sound? too loud? just about right?

Also there're a lot of people complaining the SRI is hot air intake :(

JARblue 08-15-2013 05:58 PM

I love this intake, but I got the black chrome finish more for looks than anything. The very high quality filters are the other main reason for the purchase. I run it in Texas, and sure the IATs are pretty hot, but not outrageous. Probably not the best option if you're tracking your car regularly.

These were my first performance mod and I still don't have an exhaust or anything, so I get the full effect of the sound. I was very happy. It's about stock loud under 4K RPMs with light throttle. Gets a lot more throaty than stock when you start getting closer to WOT and get those RPMs up  Here is my install thread, but the links appear to be dead. I'll try to get them back up so you can hear the sound clips http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...installed.html

**edit** sound clip links are fixed even though the photos aren't working

Thanks!
its hard to search for it because if you search for R2C the forum complains the term is too short.

Not sure why not a lot of people use this intake.

Thanks for the video.
Noticed in the R2C vid, seems like you are more heavy on the throttle when compare to the stock one :P

Yup, and that's why I felt the need to explain everything in that post and even qualify the comparison as "poor". I had more room in the parking lot after the intake install, so I felt comfortable opening it up a bit more.
