Try looking on ebay, they might have one at a decent price.

I have it. Not the pumpkin, just the gears and axles. I see cases on eBay for $200.

Unless you know how to do the diff install correctly yourself I highly recommend you just buy the whole pumpkin.

Also, remember the G37 pumpkin will work as there are a lot more of those out there.

Ok, thanks, i'll check out G37's and Ebay.

Either because its a bit easier/cheaper to install a real diff, or he's gonna weld it closed

I still have it, ready to ship. Ring, pinion, gears and axles. PM sent.

i'm dealing with this shop that installed a quaife on my open diff, they botched the install. it's really whiny, it howls and clicks. he must have not set up the correct backlash on the gears.

so i'm suppose to take it back for a 3rd time next week. if he doesn't fix it, i hope i can get my money back. I think the pinion/ring gear are now damaged.

just give me some time to give them a chance to fix it. if he doesn't then i'll probably buy yours and start from scratch.

thanks for the responses, i'll let you guys know what happens, i hope they will cover any damaged parts.

thank you.

Daishi9000 06-22-2013 11:57 AM

he said that he checked the clearances, and that they are all within spec the second time i took it in. he got new shims.
he thinks it's the quife it self, he's going to return it and get a new one.

so he now said the Quaife was ok and that the gears are to blame.
Now i'm worst than when i started, with an open diff making noises. :(

Im in the same situation with my current diff too. I had a shop install my Quaife LSD and my 4.08 gear swap. Got my first setup and everything seemed good. after about 400 miles it started to whine, took it back and they said the gears were trashed. Just installed another set of gears again with the Quaife and now the backlash is off and only whines on deceleration. Only 4 miles on it so taking it back to them tomorrow and no damage should be done. When I drained the fluid today for the swap, there were no metal shavings so thats a good sign. I did buy a donor diff to start though so my car hasn't had any down time as I still have the OEM one to swap in and out but 2 hours to swap each time and $60 worth of gear oil every swap is annoying. 1 more shot tomorrow and let's hope this is it for me.....

^did you have to pay for the second set of gears?
I should have started with a donor diff like you.
