Default Idiot Stud

Hey guys I'm looking for a part that I'm sure everybody here just throws away after they mount their aftermarket wheels. It's the "idiot stud" that bolts into the front rotors that Nissan installs from the factory to prevent people from mounting their rear wheels up front (see pic).

Since people are just throwing them away (at least that's what I did), kind of hard to come up with a fair price, so how about $10 + shipping (for both fronts).

PM me. Thanks.

I'm going to SCCA Solo Nationals this year. This is an OEM part. Although it is very unlikely I would get called out, per the rules for my class, I cannot alter OEM rotors. Therefore, I need that bolt.

13.4 WHEELS
Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following: it
is the same width and diameter as standard, and as installed (including
wheel spacers if applicable) it does not have an offset more than
+/- 0.25 inch from a standard wheel for the car. The resultant change in
track dimensions is allowed.
Wheel spacers are permitted, provided the resultant combination complies
with the offset requirements of this section. Wheel studs, lug nuts,
and/or bolt length may be changed.
The way I read this, eliminating the idiot stud does not violate the stock category rules. I look at it this way: If you were to use after market wheels (which you're allowed to do), you would have to remove the idiot stud anyways.

I see your point, I guess it's a matter of interpretation--is it considered part of the rotor or not? Agreed that the bolt pretty much prevents all aftermarket wheels, which are otherwise legal. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Turbo, I don't know what level your skills are at in terms of being truly competitive but from what I've gathered from some national level guys in my region the simple rule is as long as it's not obvious and you're not killing everyone on the course they're not going to look that hard.

No way, some of the national guys are sore losers. They will protest you for a dent if they could.

I will try to find mine, I am not sure if I still have it. If I find it, just pay shipping and it is yours.

PM Sent. Thanks a lot.

I'm not a nationally competitive driver, but my co-driver might be. I just don't want to have invested all this time/money/emotion in getting ready for Nationals, to have it blow up over something so minor. So better err on the side of caution.

You have to take it off for aftermarket wheels or 5mm spacers, which are allowed. It would be no different than if you had a bolt missing on the exhaust, which is also allowed to be modified. Don't worry about it.

I hate whiny racers.... can't beat you on the track so they whine about any irrelevant crap they can.

So I emailed a guy in my region who has worked protests at Tours and Nationals and this is what he wrote:

It is not really a "wheel stud." I think most people would agree that a "wheel stud" is a device that holds the wheel on/in place. I _guess_ you could argue it is part of the _wheel_, though.

If someone were to protest you, I think you'd be found non-compliant.

I ALSO think it is an enormously weenie protest, and I'd argue for a "no penalty" penalty if I were on the PC.

I think there's a strong argument for calling it part of the wheel or something, a locating tab, you're allowed to change wheels, removing it is in the "spirit" of the rules, etc etc etc - but I don't see a way to legally remove it...

....UNLESS Nissan calls it a "wheel stud" or "wheel locating stud." Even then, though, the rule does not allow you to REMOVE said studs.

In the end he thought it would be silly for someone to protest it, and it might be deemed a "nonprotest," but he still said it would be better to err on the side of caution.
