if i have a pending kenwood dnx 8120 auction going on. .. If it fails i may consider this unit. I have the base model, is it as simple as matching the plugs or do I need a conversion adapter?

The seller has put an excellent price on this unit. But to go from the base radio to the Bose is NOT plug-and-play. I've been researching & considering such a swap myself, and from what I can tell in the manual, it looks as if you need to at least add/change wiring, add the external Bose amp and the Bose-specific steering wheel controls adapter. I think the steering wheel control pad itself is also different between the base model and models equipped with factory Bose radios. The speakers are different too, but I can't say if the base ones are compatible with the Bose setup or not.

Can it be done? Certainly. But it looks to take more than just the radio and a cheap wiring harness adapter. But again, at the seller's low asking price, its tempting to try!

Yeah I am not sure man might want to check, that's why it's only $100 :)

As said it will not be a plug and play, you would need the bose amp bose speakers bose wiring harnesses and so on, there are a few threads asking about this and they all end the same not worth it to go from base to bose.
