Edit: I took some pictures of the wiring kit & sub, and put up links to the images in the original post. I tried to get a photo showing the wire diameter (I had an identical, opened kit). According to wikipedia, 8 gauge wire is 0.1285 inches. On one of the photos showing a close up, its not centered the best but you can see the diameter is up to spec. Besides, I've heard 8 gauge wire can hold around 300 watts RMS, and that will be more than enough for this sub.
The brand of the wiring kit is not well known, but they actually do provide wiring that meets the AWG specifications....I did order a different kit at first and had to ship it back because about half of the wire was just plastic casing.
