What does this part do for the car?

It's a front stabilizer bar that "tunes out" the body vibrations throughout the chassis. Nismo's been running these on their cars since the R33 GTR.

Will this bolt up directly to a non-nismo Z or do brackets need to be fabricated?

good question...it has two bolts on each end but im not possitive it'll bolt right up to a non-nismo...worst case scenario you could fab up brackets..
