NACA duct - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Their have been many hoods with ducts put in place that cause more turbulence, yet these are fully functional because it let's in air for cooling while not causing the hood to lift at higher speeds... If a duct was put in place without a curvature (bulge prior and after) to help the air flow over the hood, it would still let air into the engine bay, but would also create drag above the duct causing the hood to lift or rattle... The vented hoods are good for letting hot air out, but these are better for pushing cold air into the engine bay for cooling. I would still like to see someone put spacers at the hinges to see if the air flow in and out would drastically lower engine bay temperatures. Last edited by tazma61; 11-21-2010 at 11:52 PM. |

i bought one of these hoods, the TS version, about a month ago from a guy like 800 miles away.
He had it all in the original box. i brought with 6 rachet straps and drove my buddies malibu all the way out there, strapped it to the roof still in the box, and drove on home. worked out great. but you have to be very smart about the straps or that thing will go flying... i had to pull over twice to get it right. diagonal straps were attached to the mirrors so i couldnt open the doors anymore and had to climb in the windows! while nothing fits like OEM, i was able to get it very acceptable and got the factory latches and seal all on there great. |
