I think the reason was V2 spacers under 20mm will have the stock lugs sticking too far out of them. So when you go to bolt the wheel onto the spacer, the stock lugs sticking through the spacer keep the wheel from sitting flush. Again, not a firsthand finding but something I read on the site here.
